Geat Site

We only live a hour and a half  drive from this site and over the years we have visited for long weekend breaks several times every year. The recycle bins were on our last visit rather full but were cleared by the lorry during our visit and I saw one of the wardens changing the glass bins when they became full. No problem for us and we welcome the sight of people using the recycling system as much as possible. I agree the shower heads could be replaced but at what cost, and they are adequate. Overall the site is great, the wardens first class, and everything is up to the usual high Caravan Club standard. We shall be back.

summer break

We arrived on a Wed after a short journey from Hayle. We drove round the site a few times to find the spot we wanted. There are a few grass pitches in the middle of the grass which looked a little difficult to get into without disturbing other caravaners. So I do agree with other reviews about that. We did eventually find a spot which was lovely. When we arrived the warden gave us leaflet about a short walk to the beach. We did this after lunch as it was a beautiful day. it takes you to the cliff tops part of the coastal walk. The toilet blocks I found adequate. I think people are not aware that there are two parts to the block. But most units have their own facilities so I don't see a problem. There is an issue with the recycle bins overflowing. But this could be out of their control. It will depend on how often they have collections. Overall it is handy for a number of places. Rural, but near to the beach. I would return again

It's alright site

I read all the reviews before coming to site and don't really know why people are rating it so high. The showers are the old types with fixed heads, the bins are not labelled, there are a lot of caravans on the site and wardens are a bit over eager to tell dog owners off. There is no barrier at entrance, anyone can enter the site at any time…..don't really like the thought of that……other than that the shop is well stocked with items & service is good. 7/10.

Merrose Farm July 2015

I do not normally come home from holiday and do a review but I felt I needed to. We have just spent 18 nights at Merrose Farm, what a site. The wardens were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. The site was  clean and tidy, the gardeners (wardens), were doing a good job of tidying up the hard standings, funny how weeds can just poke through. The shop was well stocked, fresh bread, scones etc all delicious.  I think the traffic lights are brilliant,  no worry whether you are going to meet a car or caravan. The site is in a good place for visiting N T Properties and gardens, going over on the King Harry ferry. The Poppy Cottage Garden is well worth a visit, small but beautiful,  then ofcourse there are the Lost Gardens of Heligan what can I say WOW. We really enjoyed our stay at Merrose Farm and shall certainly be back next year. The only thing that would be good if we could book hardstandings, like we can when we go to Camping & Caravan club site, so come on Caravan Club.

Great location but cramped site

Lovely area and a great site team. Only disappointment is the continual inability to reserve hard standing and the site was sloped and cramped, bit like a car park lacking space and privacy. Surprised the black bins were not categorised to enable us to recycle easier. Arrived about 2.30 with only 5 pitches available, I suspect you can get on before 2 and nab the best ones. Will return to the area but unlikely to be at this site due to the space limititations.

Just The Norm

The site was very tidy the pitches were of a good size the staff were friendly. The only thing we found that let it down was the recycling bins were overflowing. A good location for walking and the beach was very clean but you need to get there early if you want to park in the road other whys you need to park in car park which has a lot of steps going down to the beach.

MOTORHOMING AT MERROSE

This excellent site is in a lovely location with lots of opportunities for energetic motorhomers and caravanners as well. A selection of pleasant little coves are across the road within .75 mile, and your walk can be extended along the coast to Portscatho which is about 2 miles from the site. When we were there busses ran every 2 hrs to either St.Mawes (via Portscatho) or Truro which is well worth a visit if you like shopping! Depending on your energy levels, there's a lovely walk from site along coast to St.Anthony from where you can take the little ferry across to St.Mawes, and return by bus. Another interesting walk is from St.Mawes, beside the estuary to St.Just in Roseland. This is a site where you can spend quite a while, discovering lots of different interests, and we found the shop well stocked with lots of useful items. In our opinion it is well run, clean & tidy, including the toilet block which is however in need of an upgrade.  We have visited here several times over the years, and never tire of it.

Great Holiday

Just arrived back after another great holiday which was helped by the glorious weather. Wardens very helpful, welcoming and friendly as usual. Found facilities clean and tidy, grass seems to be mowed regularly as watched wardens nip out when someone moves to prepare for the next user. Sea only short walk away and small farm shop open regularly to stock up on local produce and fresh fish on way back. Can recommend the fish and chips off the van which arrives on site regularly. Look forward to next stay later this year.

Dropped off badly

This is the worst kept Caravan Club  site I have stayed on for a long time. It probaly was not helped that the Wardens had taken it upon themselves to cancel our booking, something they denied even though head office confirmed otherwise. The hardstandings have grass growing through them as they are unkept, and the grass was not kept tidy and cut. The chemical disposal point had not been touched for acouple of years I would think, and the dog poo bins, of which there were many were not emptied in the time we were there. There was a dearth of wardens on site, although there are three, probably because more time was spent on their emporium and cream teas. Not surprised this is the only review this year so far, as many do not like to criticise, but this site really needs some tlc. Normally a great site, although a little overcrowded in summer, but one I shall avoid for the near future.

Beautiful Site

Just spent 16 nights here and found this site excellent. It was so quiet and peaceful. The wardens were fun and hard working. The site is slightly on a slope but all pitches are level. Grass pitches not open yet but still look enticing. Toilet block is a tad on the small size considering the site size, though our van was used mostly. Dog walk area is huge and enclosed, could do with a few more poo bins around for those accidents on the way to the field. A chip van comes on Fridays, though we enjoy our own catering. The local beach is approx. 25 minutes walk away and again, this time of year is really quiet. Sea foods and home made food can be bought on the way back. The main road can get busy and the traffic lights do not have sensors just a timed sequence on about a minute cycle. Lots of places of interest to visit near by, though we did visit Truro a lot about 12 miles away, for necessary shopping.
