Merrose farm site

We have just spent a lovely summer on a sessional pitch at merrose farm. We found the wardens and assistant wardens very helpful nothing was to much trouble. The site itself was always kept to a high standard . We will be going back as we enjoyed it so much.

Excellent break. Great site and staff

Stayed at this site from th 11th to the 19th of October. Friendly welcome. Pitches are large and on our level. The site is very well maintained. The wardens are happy to chat. The weather was fantastic each day bar the last day. Our golden retriever loved it. He met other grs decended from his father. The secure large dog field was much appreciated and the walks from site to the coastal path and beach were good. Our only concern at 75 years with a 9 year old dog was would we have time to beat the traffic light system on foot up hill. We did. Planning to return in 2022

Beautiful Site & Great Staff

We’ve been visiting Merrose Farm for over a decade now, and this year we were fortunate enough to have had a seasonal pitch. The area is stunning; perfect for as active or relaxing a holiday as you could wish for. The site itself is fantastic; it’s immaculately presented, beautifully landscaped and the facilities are always spotlessly clean. Of course, this is entirely due to the tireless efforts of the small team of hugely dedicated staff who all work very long hours to ensure this site is everything you could wish it to be. They do this whilst always being friendly, warm and welcoming; nothing is too much trouble and it’s clear that their first priority is to ensure all guests have a fantastic holiday. The Site Managers in particular are exceptional. They have coped admirably with a huge increase in volume this year in addition to managing covid restrictions. They have done this with sensitivity, resilience, and a great sense of humour and should be commended for their efforts. In summary, Merrose Farm is a beautiful site, in a stunning location, which is managed by great people. For us, it’s the perfect escape.

Beautifully Located Site

The site is set in a beautiful location with plenty of interesting coastal and inland walks directly accessible Short journeys bring you to excellent beaches , interesting villages and the County's capital Truro Our visit was in July when the site was very busy. The only available pitches when we arrived were located in an 'overspill ' field which was very exposed to the elements and pretty basic. This was a disappointment particularly as we had booked many months before

An absolute gem

We have been lucky enough to have had a seasonal pitch at Merrose Farm Friday for April to November 2021. We have had an amazing stay. Truly fantastic site and wonderful location. The first thing to say is that Tracey and Keith, as managers, do a fantastic job keeping the site in tip top condition. Not only are they truly brilliant at their job but have made our stay that extra bit more special. Paul, Carol, Paul and Allison have been their assistants this year and have all been brilliant too. We have got to know them all so well and it’s felt like having friends to chat with whenever we want to stop them doing their work (sorry!) and they certainly all work so hard for the guests’ benefit. The grounds are well kept, and the facilities are kept beautifully clean. You could ask for no more. They have, in our opinion, an uphill struggle with people that can’t ensure their dogs foul in the proper area (special field provided) but do everything with a smile on their faces. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of you for absolutely everything from your kindness to your chocolates and t-towel loan! Unfortunately you won’t get Lord and Lady next year but, who knows, maybe the year after xx

Staff to the rescue

During a September 2021 stay, we had a night of torrential rain leading us to be stuck on a grass pitch ( we had been warned)!! The morning we were due to vacate the pitch to go to the Eden project (Timed Ticket )!!, we found we were unable to get traction and were stuck in the mud with the front wheel spinning- not wanting to damage the pitch , I duly sent the wife running to the reception for assistance. Without further ado four strapping guys were on hand to lay their grass grid pavers and with combined effort managed to push us , until we got enough grip to get us to the nearest metaled track. We cannot thank them enough for their speedy assistance and their pleasant attitude as they came to our rescue. Merrose Farm site is in a great location for local tourist spots, we had a very peaceful stay and enjoyed pleasant views. Well done team!

Will be staying again

I have rated peace and quiet 5 stars but this would only be out of season, everything else on this site to me is perfect . The dog walk is excellent if you take your thrower with you . We have stayed on this site many times over the years and it never dissapoints . The new team this year were helpful and friendly. The only downside and this applies to all sites the speed limit is 5MPH please keep to this its for the safety of us all

It would take some site to beat this one

It would take some site to beat this one. We stayed here in a motorhome during late September and found everything to be most satisfactory – reminding us of the reasons why it is worthwhile being a member of this club. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. They even without fuss amended a booking for another site we were travelling to as the website wouldn’t allow the alteration. All facilities were excellent and there is a superbly equipped children’s play area. Fish and chips arrive each week although we had to wait one hour owing to the queue and popularity. There is also a weekly pizza delivery but which was cancelled during our stay. Satellite TV reception and BT mobile phone reception was excellent as was the club Wi-Fi. Most pitches appear to be level and are generously proportioned. Just outside the site entrance there is a bus stop and hourly bus service into Truro and on the other side of the road a bus stop giving hourly service into St Mawes which has some lovely cafés and restaurants together with a few other nice craft shops and numerous ferries – one of which is the passenger ferry over to Falmouth. This particular service runs every half hour. Another ferry goes direct to the National Trust garden at Trelissick. There is a lovely and pretty easy walk from the site, passing through a farm (with a lovely shop) and then to the scenic south-west coastal path leading south to Porthcurnick beach and The Hidden Hut café well known for a great menu and refreshments (only outside seating – and good toilets). From there the path continues for a short distance to Portscatho which has a lovely atmosphere, a few shops, gallery, pub and harbour together with a superb beach and great swimming. We had a most enjoyable stay and would highly recommend this site.

Lovely site

We had a 2 week stay here at Merrose Farm in September. Throughly enjoyed it, it’s a lovely site with a really nice friendly atmosphere. Had a really warm welcome when we arrived, and throughout our stay wardens were really helpful and friendly. Facilities very clean, and never seemed crowded or busy. We had a grass pitch at the very bottom of the site-which was a really peaceful spot, surrounded by trees. There is so much to do nearby-even with 2 weeks we didn’t get chance to do everything we wanted. Spoilt for choice for cycling and walks, and really good beaches nearby. Definitely one we’ll be back to.
