A bit disappointed

We were a bit disappointed with this site. Maybe we should have pitched on the higher level, but we had difficulty getting a tv signal. There are aerial points on the hookup column but the are not connected. Also, the site has no wifi, which I do admit I could have found out if I'd read the info properly!  The showers were good - they had a good force of hot water, but generally look in need of refurbishment. There is some traffic noise, but it didn't disturb us when we we inside the van. However, we had a lovely day out in the New Forest and another on the South Downs - both easy to drive to.

Noise

This site is clean and well kept. The wardens are fantastic and nothing to much trouble. When we was there I had trouble regulating the shower temperature. We had a meal at the golden lion which is on the road to Winchester and was good value. The two issues I had was the ROAD NOISE and flying ants on the upper level pitch 19

First timer.

Came here with our Grandson for 4 nights.  Everything there that you need. We thought this was a lovely, quiet site, perfect location for getting out and about.  Ok, there are only two showers but we soon realised that there is a 'rush hour' in the morning so waited a bit.  The wardens were very helpful and the flowers around the reception were lovely.  We will be coming here again for a weekend break and some peace and quiet.

Good stopover and access to Winchester

We stayed for two nights in our motorhome on the way from East Sussex to Wiltshire.  The reception was efficient to the point of being abrupt. The pitch was a good size with access to facilities nearby. Toilets and showers were a little dated although clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. We liked the convenience of a nearby bus stop with twice hourly service to Winchester. Our dog was made welcome on the bus. The dog walk provided was rather limited and we couldn't find any other walks nearby.

GREAT SITE

Have just spent 5 nights stay at Morn Hill campsite...thought we would try this one and see what it was like. Had read through the reviews and sounded reasonable apart from quite a few comments about the shower and toilet facilities which gave the site a real negative review..........Mmmmm i must say what are people complaining about. We found the facilities to be very very good, what you need, hot water, and very clean. The wardens do a very good job here and are very pleasant and welcoming. The only thing i found was the doggy area was not that big but it did the job shame like a lot of sites there is no adjoining field access for them to walk. All in all a brilliant site ...... we will definitely use again. Less of the moans campers.............there are much worse out there...5 star rating from us. Thank you

A Fading Lady!

This is a delightful site, well placed and spacious. It is serviced by a dedicated team of wardens trying against the odds to make the quite inadequate facilities meet the needs of members. In addition to that inadequacy, they are visibly old and tired! That inadequacy is not reflected in the charges and it would appear that "head office" is indifferent to the need for refurbishment.  Having been a member for 45 years, I can say that the inadequate provision at this site was a surprise and disappointment. That said, the location is good, the surrounding area full of interest and opportunities for discovery and the gem that Winchester is is close at hand and easily accessible for transport by bus. A final congratulation to the wardens for the magnificent floral display surrounding the reception area. A joy to behold!

Winchester and traffic!

A very pleasant site but toilets are a little dated and need updating. The absence of wi-fi is also disappointing in this day and age. But it's well located and easy to find - that said the access roundabout is very odd and we saw many members getting into a tangle there. And the roundabout at the M3 is another experience but not a good one!!!

The jury is out

This is a beautiful site with all grass pitches. Don't let this worry you, we had the wettest weekend of the season but the ground drained really well. The Wardens were a bit regimented with no real warm welcome, call me old fashioned but I like a bit of fuss. There is a centre just over the hedge which specialises in events. The night we arrived loud outdoor music played until 2am! It didn't happen again that stay but I did wonder if this was a regular occurrence. Now, I am a returning club member having been away for 3 years so I was amazed to find a game of cricket going on around my caravan. The ball entered everyone's awning within range of square leg to deep mid on! No wardens intervened and nobody really wanted to be seen as the bad guy although my jack Russell claimed the ball and none of the fielders chanced taking it off him. The facilities are clean but a little sparse for the number of pitches. I decided to use my caravans shower facilities but with no service pitches, water needed to be carried twice daily. The access off the main road is treacherous for the 1st timer, check google street view before leaving home so that you know what you are in for. The Location is handy for exploring Winchester or, as it seemed, over night stops for the Southampton ferry crossing. So it's a site to use for a purpose and not for the love of it. Probably look for another next time to be honest.

Down Memory Lane

Returned yesterday from 6 nights on this site and other than tired toilet block and No wifi I couldn't fault it. An ideal location from which to explore this area of Hampshire and particularly Winchester. I lived and worked around here back in the '60s and it was good to find that there are still quiet areas within spitting distance of the frantic M3. Good bus service into the City only 5 min walk away. Weather was iffy but that was an opportunity to relax and recharge the batteries

easy accessible site

Easy accessible site from the M3. and for Winchester Very well kept site and friendly wardens. Slightly let down by dated toilet block but I believe there is an understandable reason why they are not updated.
