Seals and Hares

This is a lovely quiet site with lots of local walking opportunities. The planted sections give the site a very relaxed feel and is was good to see No Mow May in operation. There are a few tucked away sections that allow you to feel that you are on a much smaller site and we particularly appreciated the drive over motorhome service point. Really helpful. We saw a hare in the field just outside the site and we watched seals from the cliffs above Ravenscar, a fairly short drive away. A planned swim in the pool below falling foss didn't go ahead as it was little more than a puddle, despite the recent rain. The ice-cream from Beacon Farm is excellent and it is worth visiting the ice-cream parlour there for the vast range of flavours on offer. It is a pity that this site isn't open all year as despite the lack of facilities it would make a great base for winter walking. The wardens were welcoming and friendly. A new site on the 'must return' list.

Peace, quiet and views to die for

The photos of this site really don't do it justice. We have been blessed with 3 days of sunshine and I'm sure if we had come here in the rain my review might be slightly different. Having no facilities ie toilet block, isn't a problem so long as you have your own! It's a truly wonderful site, so peaceful and well laid out, spacious, light and private. There are both hardstanding and grass pitches but no fully serviced pitches. There are lots of trees, but if you like lots of sunshine there are plenty of pitches to accomodate this. Some, not all, pitches have wonderful views over the moors, and as the previous reviewer stated there are easy dog walks from the site. We visited Falling Foss Waterfalls and the Nature Reserve and Cafe there. Much recommended, even in times of Covid. Whitby is busy but very small and compact with interesting little shops and wonderful fish and chips. We cycled along the Cinder Track from Robin Hood's Bay to Whitby which was marvellous. Cycling is good, traffic is light, so long as you don't mind hills! Dogs are very welcome. Posted on the outside of the information shed, at the site, were details of where you could park your motorhome locally - what a brilliant idea, and I would personally like to commend the site wardens for going to the bother of doing this for all us MH users. Great site, fabulous region, we will be back

Peace, tranquillity and stunning scenery

A return visit as soon as lockdown ended on 12 April. This site is the essence of simple, peaceful caravanning. The lack of facilities may discourage some, but encourages self sufficiency and reduces movement around the site! We were blessed with glorious chilly spring weather - and that helped us to appreciate and enjoy the wonderful scenery and views in the area. The staff team went over and above to make us feel welcome, safe and Covid-secure. Much of what we have done on previous visits was still not yet open, but the walks, bike rides and views more than made up for this. The site is quiet and dog friendly - but leads essential locally, especially now at lambing time. Look forward to our next trip

Great to able to appreciate the North York Moors again

This was our first visit to this site which is in a fabulous location if you want glorious views, peace and quiet, away from everywhere. And if you have a dog, you are spoilt for choice for walks, both within the site and immediately outside. Between pitches 25 and 26 there is an off-lead dog walk which goes through woods around the northern perimeter of the site to pitch 88. Between pitches 11 and 12 there is a gate leading into a wood which is all fenced off so your dog can be off-lead and has a number of paths to follow around it. There are also paths leading across the moors immediately to the north and east of the site. Although the site has no toilet block, there are a number of service points around the site and the site is maintained to the usual club high standard. A great bonus for us was the warden ringing us up before our visit to tell us that we could select which pitch we wanted, which we did. I assume that this was a 'one-off' on the first day of reopening ( 12th April ) but why can we not have this all the time on club sites ( as many commercial sites do ) instead of the rush to arrive at 12 o'clock and then the circus of vans circling round the site trying to decide which pitch to go for. I have suggested pre-booking of pitches before to the club but it has taken no notice. Hopefully it will bring in pre-booking of pitches eventually.

Perfect setting in Woodland and Moor

We love this site and have stayed twice, both in Autumn. The site is everything you would expect and is nicely level which is always a welcome bonus! The setting is just perfect for us with our dog. Lovely dog walks in every direction. Perfect base to explore the North York Moors, with Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Goathland all within easy reach. We'll definitely be heading back - but probably in spring or summer next time.

Peace and tranquility

Had a quick overnight stay but will definitely return. Friendly helpful wardens. Lots of walks nearby. Flat pitches some with good views of the moors. Good value for money.

As good as you can get

regulars we are and glad to have been back September 2020, nice clean well run site, plenty of lovely walks and peace and quiet, drove into Whitby but overcrowded and social distancing had gone out the window so we didn't get out of the car and headed back to the site and went for a walk instead, more enjoyable and more safe, will be back next year.,

Peace and quiet

After a year of cancelled overseas trips due to Covid, we were pleased to book this site. It seems that the entire nation has suddenly taken up caravanning! What a lovely surprise. Stunning scenery, walking and cycling straight off site ( the hills are steep, so our pedal assist was most welcome) and one of the best dog walks we have come across. Having no loo block is perfect for us as we never use them, and the site is kept immaculately.

Mixed feelings

The arrival process was poor, it is possible to check in via mobile, but there is no or limited phone reception on 2 different networks, I found the warden rude and wouldn't want to deal with him again, the book describes views of the moors from western pitches, but all views are obscured by trees, which is a shame. HOWEVER The site is well maintained, the lady warden appeared more friendly and the surrounding area is stunning. Whitby, the coastal villages - Sandsend, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and the inland areas Goathland, Lealholm, Rosedale, Hutton-le-Hole, to name a few should be on everyone's 'must visit' list. From the site there are many good walks, including down to the seasonal cafe at Falling Foss, which is worth a visit for a scone with jam and cream, and everything eco friendly (no plastics, everything recyclable). We even say a Kingfisher on a walk during our stay I would be reluctant to stay on the site again, but will definitely visit the area again.
