Well situated

This site is so well placed just off the M1 it suits a one night stop over or a longer stay. This time we were there for 5 nights, and we had a lovely time. We walked into Staveley without a problem to see our friends, and drove into Chesterfield to shop and also, in the evening to see a show at the pomegranate theatre, after having a good Chinese meal in the restaurant opposite.  The site is good for families as there is a lovely lake, with fishing, to walk or cycle round, a playground and some lovely scenic walks.  The only draw back, if you can call it a draw back is having to remember the key for the toilet block, but understandable security, and the fact that there is only one hand drier and one hair drier in the ladies, whereas in smaller sites there are usually two.  All in all a lovely site, well kept and clean.

our February stay

Have been to this site before and we think it is very good. Facilities brilliant. Just a bit about off site. Enjoyable walk around country park. Staveley a steady walk away and onto the Chesterfield canal path. Good hardware shop Wisebuys, a welcoming pub(proper pub) called Tilly's Tavern reasonably priced ale and Harleys for an excellent Sunday carvery, pleasant friendly staff. Well fed and watered we strolled back to our camper and settled down to watch the rugby our newly bought TV (ideal on a wet and windy afternoon) which we had plugged into their aerial, saves messing about with our own.

very lovely site

Stayed for a weekend at this site. never been here before. What a lovely site. Location is great if you like walking. Fabulous for dogs. Huge lake nearby if you like fishing. Lots of places to walk and let your dog run free. Lots of good places to visit. Definitely be going back to this site. Will try in the summer this time.

Relaxing weekend

Just back from a 2 night stay. Site spotless as normal. The wardens were very helpful as there was no water on the Friday when I arrived but they offered me water so I could make a drink. Looking forward to my next vist .

Great Site

Visited last week for a break. Good to find can be a bit tight leaving with a large outfit but on mentioning it to the warden we were allowed out the 'in' gate. Tidy site, staff were excellent. Loads of walks straight off site and many interesting places to visit in the area, defiantly be visiting again.

Super site

Visited this site for a early new year get away. Wow it was everything it said on the reviews. Arrived Friday lunch time and left Monday lunch time. The site is very easy to find directions spot on. Walks & cycling around the area were plentiful. The wardens were very friendly and the site was spotless. The toilets & showers were also spotless which you would expect from a new site like this. We will visit again it was that good a great weekend break.

Peace & quiet

Visited this site for a quick "first of 2016" trip as it is only 90 mins from home. Site is very easy to find when leaving the motorway. The Wardens were friendly & helpful and the site was spotless, and mainly deserted so it was lovely & peaceful. No problems with the wifi, getting 72.2 Mbps on channels 1 & 6. Didn't use the toilet or shower block so cannot comment. Emptied one gas bottle but the site was low on gas & unable to exchange a refill for a CalorLite. Exit with a caravan can be a bit tight - watch the sides when leaving (or maybe I was just badly positioned). Toilet /water/bin points well spaced, never too far to walk. All in all and enjoyable site and one which we will visit again with pleasure - rated with 1 star for families as I cannot comment - just me & my dog - and leaving it blank is not an option

Great Site

Enjoyed our stay over the New Year very much. The site & toilet facilities were spotless.  Wardens friendly & helpful.  Only complaint was the very slow speed of the wifi.  Almost snail pace at times. I have complained to wifi team & waiting for a reply East Midlands caravaner

top site

Poolsbrook is easy to access off the M1, and although it is close the road cannot be seen or heard. The site is modern and kept clean, and benefits by being right next to the country park, which is ideal for families, walkers and dogs. The park also runs adjacent to the Trans Pennine way, which is well used and allows access to the Chesterfield canal system which provides easy cycle rides into Chesterfield. It is also possible to follow the TPT and route 67 and 627 cycle ways into Sheffield avoiding roads. This rote is roughly 15 miles with some good hills, but makes a good day out. With regard to some previous entries, do not be put off by the site being next to an industrial estate. The estate is tidy, and in summer should be obscured by surrounding tree coverage. There is a new Leisure centre 200yrds from the site and Chesterfield is pleasant and has cinemas, theatres, reasonable shops and loads of good walks. Definitely a repeat visit site.
