A hidden gem in the Forest of Bere

This is without doubt one of the best maintained sites we have been to. Extremely dog friendly (fantastic doggy exercise field) and are the local pubs. Agree with a previous poster regarding dog mess. We picked up at least 3 lots of dog poo left by dogs other than our own. This is not a job for the wardens. My only criticism would be internet speed. Whilst the map in reception boasts good coverage throughout the site, it should be noted that this is classed as a "bronze" site for Wifi, meaning the broadband speed is between 1mb/s and 8mb/s which is shared between the 142 pitches. The best I could get was 0.8mb/s If this was included with the pitch fee (as per caravan and camping club) I guess it would be OK, but at £3 per night it represents poor value for money. I'm sure the vast majority of visitors enjoy being "offline" for a few days so this would not be a concern for most ! Note for those who considering walking into Wickham... After exiting the woods and crossing the main road, you'll see a stile on your left leading to a footpath along the river. This path eventually exits at the station car park in Wickham. We preferred this route to following the Meon trail. In summary, a beautiful site which we will definitely be returning to soon !
