Great site

1st time at this site. Spent 5 nights here and it was made all the better because of the great weather.  Large site but didn't feel like it due to the layout. Great site for dog owners because of the large dog exercise field and walks leading off it. Site and facilities immaculate. Wardens doing their best to enforce 5mph rule but many drivers choosing to ignore it which is a shame. Local pub just along to the left a bit from bottom of the road extremely dog friendly. Our dogs were given a drink before we were :) Food was ok too, large portions. Parts of the beaches at Scarborough and Filey closed off to dogs but still plenty beach space allocated to them!

West Ayton wild life

Inthe past this has been a favorite, but not having been for 5 years, we were pleased by the improvements. More hardstanding, no barrier in way when taking anohter ride round when choosing pitch, and better division of the site with clearly marked route. However the increase in wildlife was most pleasing to us birdwatchers. Tree sparrows on feeders by reception, barn owl on field at the back, siskin on the new hardstanding! Several song thrush, and nuthatch and a tree creeper. Outside the gates, excellent view, red kite. Why go to the coast and buy hot dogs when you can be seeing all this?

Best site we've been to

We stayed here for three nights and wish it could have been longer. I reiterate what others have said about cleanliness, immaculate housekeeping of the site, well spaced plots and the fabulous dog walk. I am sad that we live so far away as we would definitely visit regularly if we were closer.

A lovely few days

This was  our first stay at this site and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The wardens were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Very easy to find and access good and very central for touring North Yorkshire and the coast. Pitches were well spaced and immaculate and the dog walk was fabulous. The nearby walks were lovely and the site peaceful and well thought out. Intend to return later in the year after the school holidays as it really was a pleasant stay.

Perfect weekend getaway

This site really does put you in the centre of true yorkshire and some of its finest offerings of picturesque villages, warm welcoming pubs, the open countryside and the good old british style beach town. The site itself is a well kept easily accessible and a good size with many pitches so availability should be mostly always available. There is a little issue with the one way system clarity and you will need your manouvering skills and wits about you as the roads and bends are extremely tight but moreso the test of getting your caravan onto your pitch will probably need aiding by the use of a mover!! There is also an issue with TV signal due to the site bieng positioned in a valley. Dont let this put you off though as once set up you will enjoy every minute, and within a five minute walk you can be in the beautiful village of West Ayton for river walks, a pub lunch, groceries or just a stretch of the legs.

All round superb site.

Just returned from staying at this site for 6 nights. The weather was glorious (it always helps) The whole site is immaculate and well maintained. The wardens were so helpful and always approachable. They keep the site looking beautiful and woo betide you if you let your car or trailer stray onto the well kept grass verges. The shower blocks were always kept clean and the showers were amazing. There is an excellent dog walk area which seemed to be populated by Westies while we were there. There is also a Dog shower on site which I have never seen before.  Looking forward to a return visit.

A well run, friendly site

Stayed for 5 nights. Staff friendly, helpful, they take great pride in the site. Some of the pitches are quite tight to manouvre into but all immaculate. As it is set in an old quarry site it is very sheltered and quiet. Has direct access onto lovely walks, including a wooded nature reserve. Quite a way out of Scarborough but this is not a problem as it allows easy journeys to the North York Moors, Bempton Cliffs, Filey and Bridlington. So would recommend it highly - would stay again.

What a Stink

Just had a wonderful time at West Ayton till some farmer decided to spread manure over the next field to the site, I know they have to do it but what a smell ??. Most members are friendly but there are still a few who totally ignore you, is this a form of some upper class distinction?? because believe me they are no better than the rest of us the wardens are ok and very good at there job.
