Another visit to this site

We have visited this site before and it is one of the best that we have stayed on, the site is quite easy to find and very well laid out with a play area and field for the children as well as pool and table tennis tables. The site is in a great position for visiting the other nearby resorts, we visited Whitby via Goathland on the North Yorkshire railway, we also visited York by rail from Scarborough station, plenty of parking at a cheap rate for rail users, we also visited Bempton cliffs and were lucky enough to see Puffins. The weather on our trip wasn't good but the facilities were kept very clean by the excellent hard working wardens.

Immaculate

Stayed here at the tail end of the Easter holidays with our 2 boys. Very nice and quiet, immaculately kept site. Facilities excellent as with all club sites we've stayed on, and due to the rain we only discovered the huge field with climbing things for the kids on the last day! Very friendly staff and the info point also full of useful info such as the slips with directions to places. A great base for going into Scarborough and we hope to be back. If visiting Scarbourough, a trip to Alonzi's Harbour Bar is a must for huge ice cream sundaes, fifties-style, and the Pomodoro Italian café/restaurant is to be recommended.

Tired Facilities

Visiting the site in April I found everything in spotless condition, however the toilet facilities are beginning to look a little dated, mainly the cubicle sizes being small.

Scarborough April 2016

Very convenient for East Coast towns of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. Also the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs. Lovely site which offers a great mix of coast and moors. The walk from the site to Forge Valley was extremely muddy and slippery when we did it (except on the boardwalk) and we needed our walking poles. Otherwise, we'd have had to retreat. Some really enjoyable pub restaurants within easy reach. Recommend The Londesborough Arms and The Grapes. Usual high club standards and friendly and efficient wardens.

cracking dog shower

Having visited this site previously we were not disappointed as the standards are as high as ever. One aspect that was new is the addition of a dog shower and after walking up Forge Valley with 2 dogs it was very much appreciated-may all sites adopt this new facility-well done West Ayton.

Nice site and a great holiday

We have just returned from a great week at this site. The pitches are spacious and well laid out throughout the site giving everyone plenty of space. The toilet blocks are a bit dated and could be doing with a revamp but they were always kept extremely clean and tidy. The village of West Ayton is a 10 minute walk away where there is a traditional pub selling good beer at a reasonable price also there is a good chip shop in the village. The site is ideally located for visiting Scarborough and the surrounding area we spent a day in Whitby and also visited Goathland. We also visited the classic car garage at Thornton Le Dale and attended one of their classic car auctions which is a must for any classic car fans. Overall we had a great holiday at a very nice site and we hope to return some time soon.

West Ayton

Very friendly welcome. Lots of hardstandings and easy access to pitches ideal for out-of-season. Best of all - look out for TREE sparrows on the feeders and around the upper toilet block.

Excellent site for everyone

Stayed here for 5 days over the Easter holidays and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The new arrivals lanes are a little confusing as there are two side by side next to reception and we were unsure to go parallel to the van in front or behind it, a sign might be helpful here? Anyway got a very warm welcome from the warden and then we were free to choose a pitch. This took longer than normal as all the pitches are excellent, the grass pitches were still closed but the hardstanding pitches are all quite wide and the site has serval distinct pitching areas to choose from with a one way system linking them all. It takes only a few minutes to walk around the site due to helpful paths and steps but considerably longer to drive around. The site has two shower/toilets blocks which as always were clean throughout the day. There is a huge field for the children with play equipment and a games room/pavilion with pool tables and an outdoor table tennis table. The dog walk looked very good but it was muddy. There is also a second play area for younger/smaller children. Offsite there is the villages of West/East Ayton within a ten minute walk, and Scarborough within a short drive, there are buses from the village and a park and ride nearer to the town. Of course there are the other 'resorts’ and inland for the moors. There is a well-stocked information room with details. Beware of the directions to site, the dual carriageway is really really short and you may miss it, look for the Forge pub. A spacious well maintained site and we’ll be back. Thank you wardens.
