East Coast revisit!

Excellent site, excellent pitches, excellent wardens and excellent location. The facilities are well looked after but in need of updating. There was a boiler problem whilst we were there, but it did not impact on our stay. The sites location allowed visits to Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. Excellent!

First time visit

This was a first time visit to this site and the area. The site is well laid out, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Plenty of things to do for children with 2 play areas and a games room. Dog walking both on site and on the several other walks were excellent. It helped having the dog shower to hand for washing muddy paws!! Well located for local attractions which were at times stunning.  Well worth a visit, we shall definitely be returning.

Great Site, pity about some of the members :-(

We stayed at this site for four nights from Thursday 31st March. Came here for the first time in the summer last year and really enjoyed our time and that was what made us choose to make it our first caravan trip of this year. The site is very well maintained and we found the wardens to be friendly and very helpful especially when siting the caravan.  The very wet weather meant that the grass pitches were, sensibly, out of bounds and we found the hard standing pitches to be roomy and generally level enough to not worry too much about levelling the van. The children’s play area is a boon for families and we dog owners are well catered for too with plenty of walking space and bins. The only thing that put a damper on things was nothing to do with the site, it was down to club members who sadly left the toilet facilities in a dreadful state on more than one occasion.  Despite there being utilities for cleaning up after ourselves it seems some members are unable or unwilling to contribute a little to help keep the well-appointed facilities in a reasonable state for everyone to use.  It also shows a lack of respect for the hard-working wardens who have to clean up

A very peaceful, clean and well organised site ... But don't arrive early!!

Visited here in April 2016. We chose it because it is handy for the east coast resorts. Stayed for five nights. The site is quite large and well laid out. We arrived at 11:15 and were told we could not get in before 12 as it was really busy.It wasn't, it was a Wednesday. Told we could go in at 11:40 which we did. The site was showing as fully booked for the coming weekend but there was plenty of hard standing pitches available. This is a nice site with great facilities which are a little dated but still very good and kept spotlessly clean. The dog walk is excellent with links direct to lovely local walks. A walk into the village is ten minutes via road or the path out of the dog walk. There is a chippy, Spar, petrol station, pharmacy and pub in East/West Ayton. They are in effect the same village separated by a river. I would recommend Ye Olde Forge Inn which is at the bottom of the road which leads up to the site. Great staff, food and ale and its dog friendly. We used the site as a base for the coastal towns and it is good for this. The bus is £2.50 an adult to Scarborough and hourly. Kids half price. However a taxi with Nippy Taxis to Scarborough is only £6.60 each way so we used them after the first bus trip. Didnt try the chippy in the village but others on the site said it was excellent. TV reception via the sites plug in system is very good except for BBC. We got about 80 TV channels. One brilliant thing the site has is a dog shower which was invaluable for our mutt who loves the mud and the river on Forge Valley. It is clear that the wardens take great pride in this lovely site.We will be back ... Also I am now a Wetherspoons convert ...... The Lord Rosebery in Scarborough is very good value and a very nice pub.

Quiet corner of Yorkshire

Excellent site in a quite corner of West Ayton, local amenities 10 minute walk from the site. ideal site for families and dog owners as there plenty of walks stretching out into the north Yorkshire moors, although the staff were new to the site they were very knowledgeable on the surrounding area, well worth a visit.

Spot on site!

We stayed here for 4 nights over the Easter weekend, and surprisingly got a pitch having only called a few days previous! We arrived after 7pm on a Thursday night and had a big choice of pitches to choose from. Pitches were large and well spaced out, plenty of room for caravan, awning and car. 2 play areas for kids, the reception did say they were planning on installing football nets / goals, I suggest this is a priority as our boys played a lot of football with the other boys on site during our stay and nets are always appreciated by them! Toilets and showers were of the usual club high standards. The park was well maintained, lots of warden presence. Nice information kiosk with plenty of local info. We visited Walker's restaurant in West Ayton and had the best fish and chips we have ever had in a restaurant! The location of this site is easy to find, access is good for larger outfits and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will certainly return!

Excellent stay

this was the first time we have stayed at this site and we will definitely go back again. We arrived after 5:30 on our first night but we're still made to feel welcome on arrival and the wardens were extremely helpful. The site was lovely and quiet and surrounded by a lot of footpaths for walks. There is a village pub and shop within easy walking distance and if you didn't fancy going in to the village the site shop is well stocked with really good products at reasonable prices.  The facilities were always clean and showers fantastic. There is a lot of space for dog walking on site and games room and play areas for children. The wardens were very friendly and helpful whenever we needed something. The site itself is about 4 miles from Scarborough and within easy drive of other locations as well.  We had a perfect stay and would definitely go back.

Early quick break 2016

This was our first visit to west ayton site, we have only be touring since late last year.   We were very impressed with the site, it was lovely and clean, the staff were really nice and friendly. We had a great little stay there. It was just a little try out with the van to make sure everything was hunky dory before we went anywhere further. On our 2nd night there we were kept awake by noise from goodness knows where.  It was nothing to do with the site and they didn't know where it was coming from either. The only slight problem we had was with the dog field which was great but unfortunately 2 of our dogs are reasonably small and managed to get through one of the gates into the field beyond. I mentioned it to the office and they immediately said they would do something about it so all credit to the site for listening to their customers. We will definitely be going back to  this site, hopefully when the weather is a little better.
