Super Southport

Finally managed to get a full week at Southport and it was worth the wait. Great location an easy stroll into Southport with all it's attractions. A day out in Liverpool is a must and with trains every 15 mins it's easy to do. I saw complaints in the visitors book about poor TV reception but I had no problems ( I did see outfits with their aerials pointing out to sea ?). We arrived after 12 o'clock and were the 12th outfit in the queue ! During our week's stay we regularly saw people start to arive from 11 o' clock on so come on fellow members give the Warden's a break and do what it says in the handbook

Southport

It was the first time visiting Southport site. The site was very clean and the facilities. Its good for walking into Southport, but just out side the site you can get on the park and ride to other places. The staff were pleasant at all times. We will be returning to the site again.

very good

WE went for two nights, the site was very nice and tidy and the toilets were very warm and very clean. The site was easy to get into town and the sea front. we will be going back to this site if it is for odd days or for a week

Quiet - other than help-desk calls

We had been trying to get away in our motorhome all year, and with the season fast slipping away, we managed 4 nights at Southport. Ahhh. What a lovely site. Convenient for all of Southport's attractions as well as a beautiful nature reserve just across the road, a Victorian park adjascent to the new section and an ice cream van on the prom. The wardens were cheerful, the facilities were spotless, the sun was shining. What more could we need? Well, the one thing we'd booked this site specifically for, which was the supposedly recently-upgraded wifi which we both needed to stay in contact with work, a condition of our break. "The install should give an average line speed increased from 4.9 Mbps to 49.7 Mbps with the lowest expected to be 10 Mbps and the highest 80Mbps" the wifi update on the CC site says. Well, it was totally miserable, crawled along in slo-mo, dropped out often and only worked at all after daily calls to the warden's tech helpdesk. It reliably clicked off at around 6.45pm for at least 90 minutes, and again late at night and again in the morning. It was difficult enough to get away for 4 nights, but being able to stay connected was part of the deal! With no connection, the stress level was higher than it needed to have been. I do hope the CC don't consider their internet problem "fixed" yet. Families with young children should ensure they still bring DVDs for wet days as streaming is impossible; parents who need to stay in touch with work should perhaps find alternative destinations with proper connections. We will definitely be coming to Southport again; we just won't expect any wifi.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly

Good, spotless, easy walking and cycling into Southport. The Bad, not enough coverage for TV reception, they should have put in the TV cable when they did the new extension to the site, wardens miserable but it is near the end of the season they must have had a belly full by now. The Ugly, the fencing around the new toilet block, you have to walk miles to the ladies, was warned not to nip over fence - we would be evicted if caught. Big row and fighting on Saturday night involving about ten people, don't know the outcome but not very nice and totally out of order for a family site.

Air Show Weekend

We were unable to get on the site for the weekend so we stayed on the CC rally in the park next door (250 caravans). We moved onto the Club site on the Sunday night as our friends were already staying there. It is the first time we have stayed there since the extension which is a great improvement. All the staff we spoke too were very helpful and friendly. Facilities were very clean as expected (I only nipped in as I use my caravan for showering each day)) Unfortunately our friends had a chair stolen from outside their caravan during the night. Our Fiamma Caravanstore blew over our roof as you have to be very aware of the gusts of wind on the coast. Very convenient to walk to the Air Show, Supermarket, restaurants, shops and all the attractions. Ideally located for families.

Airshow Weekend

Site excellent for Airshow, convenient to walk to viewing Area £10 admission. Warden could have been a little more pleasant on booking in a bit like being at school again. New area well planned and toilet block to usual standards, road noise noticeable particularly the racing motorcyclists.

Airshow Weekend

Had a fantastic few days at Southport site, excellent location for watching all the action.  Facilities and site are in excellent order. Warden is a bit of a "jobsworth" and not very helpful but on the upside he won't be there forever. Great site Caravan club, its a credit to you.
