Good for families

Spoilt by inconvenient access to conveniences

Very good location for a site, as Southport is a short walk and had excellent rail links to Liverpool and Blackpool. Southport itself is a very pleasant town. The site itself has a middle area, which has mature trees and bushes and has the nicest pitches. It is the furthest from the facilities, but the pitches on the left of reception are in a long line and the new area is a bit of a windswept wasteland, which will probably improve once things start growing. The main let down is the yomp from pitches 30 and 31 to the new loos. There is no close access to the ladies from where we were pitched. The block is almost completely fenced in, so women have to walk all the way round to the well placed male facilities entrance, and then retrace their steps all the way back around the front of the building to the ladies door. There are a number of signs asking people (they would be the females) not to climb over the fence. There would be no need for these signs had there been a path to the door. Unfortunately, a serviced pitch was sited where a path should have been. Extremely annoying especially in the dark. Must have been deigned by a man.

There are two facilities blocks on the Southport site and the pitches in question are probably nearer in terms of walking distance to the other block. (This information is available prior to arrival by consulting the site map and can avoid one selecting a pitch less suited to one's requirements.)

Personally, I really liked the wide open space as we were able to enjoy unshaded sunshine for most of the day and could watch the beautiful sunsets over the bay.
