Decisions, Decisions!

It is time the Racecourse Management decided whether they want a "Premier Car Park" or a caravan site -they can't expect to have both! To expect customers to take down awnings and pack up for the road just to move into another field whenever there is a race meeting is totally unrealistic - why can't they make the other field the permanent site? The club also needs to be more honest with it's description - for instance, there is no mention of a road at the back of the site, it's not shown on the map - which on our visit proved to be very noisy. This site and it's facilities are not fit for inclusion in club membership.

Inconsiderate driving

I am currently on the site and have visisted many times in the past lovely placed site facities are in need of upgrade but obviously this is the racecourse not much chance of it happening. What I am really disgusted with is the speed of fellow members insist on doing they seem to think 5mph doesnt apply anymore. The wardens need to be more assertive in dealing with this issue before there is an accident. Thank you

Lovely little site

I’ve visited this site many times and always had a very warm friendly welcome, it’s ideal location is within walking distance to thirsk , the toilets/ showers are a little dated but adequate and always spotless. Some complain about the noise off the road, but I’ve never found it a problem.

Great site and great location

This is a great site. I have been reading the reviews and what do people expect. It is cheaper than all of the rest of the caravan club sites. The wardens are always really friendly and approachable. It is the only club site that we have visited recently who have made our two children very welcome as usually you get looked down on when you arrive with two young children. The toilets are always really clean and then is nothing wrong with them. If you do not like them then use the facilities in your own caravan. The location is brilliant for walking into Thirsk and having the supermarkets on the doorstep is useful. In regards to the deliveries to Lidl, yes they do come throughout the night but if you are a light sleeper just make sure you do not pitch up right next to Lidl. We have always had a lovely time here and will continue to come to stay.

weekends away

stay here quite often over the years, nice and local for the weekend get aways! Staff are really friendly and helpful and its ideal for walking into the town. The only downside is that its a very noisy site as shops are getting deliveries at all hours and the boy racers are none stop, however we know about this and are fine with it as only weekends spent here. Return here every year

Overnight Stop

We stayed here in June on our way south. The route and access to the site was easy. The wardens had left a note to greet us, so we pitched and found them in the office to pay later, and very pleasant they were. The site is a convenient distance from the A1 to use as an overnight stop. It is just an open grass area but has electric hook ups, and there are facilities if you need them. Thirsk town is a stroll away and has everything you would expect for a small town. The site didn't have the appeal to us to stay for any longer. It felt quite vulnerable being by a busy road and no security barrier, but what do you expect for the price.

Plus and minus

We arrived at the end of a race day! So we weren't allowed onto our pitch until the temporary car park was empty. This explained to us before we arrived. We had a warm and friendly informative welcome, and throughout our stay I found the staff to be friendly and approachable. The whole site is laid to grass, and is well kept. The facility's are very dated! However they were clean, the showers are a little tricky, but adequate. The town is a five minute walk away and has everything you'd expect for a small market town. However the only thing for me is the constant road noise! It's loud and relentless and completely out of the hands of the club! We were worken at 07:00 with deliverys to Lidl, and the boy racers love the lane that runs parallel to the site.

Poor facilaties

Visited site for a week. Found site great for visiting area. Wardens great at keeping site in order. Very disappointed with the facilities especially the toilets. Found stepping in and out of showers difficult and dangerous. The water points are a disgrace a pavement slab on a slope between caravans muddy and dirty. The elsan disposal is cleaned by the warden, but most times later in day or evening there is no way of cleaning with water as there is no pipe from tap. The waste water is next to it and very awkward to clean waste carriers. I would imagine the germs in hot weather would have field day. I know that Thirsk own the site but surly some money can be spent on the site. Maybe some money that was spent on the new look logo's and uniforms could have been spent here. I feel very sorry for the wardens. I know one of the water points was out of order because of bee's nearby. I will not be returning to this site again

Good location

It's horses for courses!! In my opinion it's an excellent site for a stopover being 5 mins walk to town, and two supermarkets next door, but not a site I would chose for weeks holiday. The handbook is misrepresentative, in that it states ' you will be pitched within site of the main stand with the famous turf before you', which is not true, unless you are one of the lucky ones. As for the facilities, they are more than adequate, although toilets and showers could do with an update.I don't see how you can complain for £15 per night. The wardens were very welcoming and helpful. It is along side an A road so inevitably quite noisy, but it wasn't a problem through the night. I would definitely stop here again if in the area.
