Easter 2017

Arrived late to find note pinned to reception.no problem however we struggled to find water and bins.Site is not the normal pristine club site.Grass is left too long for our liking and toilet block is very dated.Handy for Thirsk town centre but adjacent A61 road noise is a distraction.Hope club would consider updating before revisiting. Thirsk Racecourse

Site entrance has no barriers and therefore didn't have the same secure feel as other sites with security entrance. Toilets and showers were extremely tired and cramped and although clean, they are in desperate need of being modernised to reflect the usual club standards. Racecourse signage was unwelcoming, making you feel more of an intruder rather than a paying guest on this site. Although the site location is extremely convenient for local shops and amenities I would hesitate to stay again until facilities are upgraded.

What a Rinky Dink site!

Firstly I have no problem with the wardens they were very helpful. My main complaint is about the showers and I make no apology for raising it again. The first problem is that the cubicles are extremely cramped. On the occasion of my first shower the experience was awful. I have read the club's reply to a previous comment but even if I had known the ideal setting it would have been impossible as I am not in the habit of taking my reading classes into the shower. There were no instructions and as the showers are different to those found in C&MC what chance do we have. The following morning I had detailed instructions from the warden which helped and enabled me to achieve the recommended setting but this merely raised the standard to adequate. The motorhome "grey water" dump was far from convenient. This site is definitely not worth the £19.40 per night that I paid. Subsequently, I stayed on private sites at Whitby and Hull, both were far superior and less expensive.

Thirsk race cource

Stayed here 3/4-5/4 staff very friendly and helpful, biggest let down, facilities past their best but adequate, the showers were bordering on dangerous both my wife and I's showers went from extremely hot to stone cold making showering difficult!! Having said that site in good location and we would stay there again.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at the site. The wardens just wanted to clear up any confusion regarding the showers and would like to reassure guests that the showers are regularly maintained and operating correctly. The showers are electric showers so ideally the setting needs to be set to high and then the temperature dial needs to be set to halfway to achieve a pleasant shower temperature. Electric showers by nature sometimes have a slight fluctuation in temperature especially if a number of showers are drawing water at the same time however the dial is easily adjusted and should not cause any issues. I hope this helps for the future and the wardens hope to welcome you again soon.

Short break in Thirsk

A good site for exploring Thirsk and surrounding area. Helpful Tourist Information leading to some excellent walks direct from site. The site facilities a little tired but usable. Wardens excellent.Very much enjoyed our three nights stay.

Great location

We visited the Thirsk site at the weekend and what a great time we had, it's a pleasant quiet site located on the edge of town. Although the facilities are a little old they are immaculately kept, the site wardens couldn't be better, helpful, friendly and constantly busy. The grass is well kept, everything neat and tidy. Thirsk is a pleasant market town with plenty of places to eat and drink, lots of things to do in the area to. A good spot to start the season off.

Great site to Visit Thirsk

A good site for visiting the area and the lovely town of Thirsk. The site is a bit noisy with the nearby roads but you are in a town so its to be expected. We enjoyed our stay there as it was a great base for days out. One note of caution if your are leaving the site to head for the East coast do not take the A170 as this road has Sutton Bank along its route and caravans are banned from using this road. We would happily visit again.

thirsk racecourse

This site is ideally placed with a very short walk into the lovely town of Thirsk. There are also 2 supermarkets right at the site entrance. I just have 2 small moans, whilst the facilities are adequate they have become very dated, I was informed by the friendly wardens that this is down to the racecourse and not the caravan club, the other moan is boy racers on the road behind the site using it as a racetrack.

Convenient

This site being close to the A1 is very convenient. It is more or less a field adjoining the race course and has very little character. We have stayed there twice on our way North but it would not attract me to stay any length of time. It has all the facilities housed in a little cottage i.e. reception. dish washing sink (one) and toilets and showers. While adequate they are all a little "tired". The reception as usual was friendly and imformative.

Good stopover

We arrived at Thirsk and received a good welcome. the site was busy but it wasn't crowded. It is literally 2 minutes walk from Tesco and Lidl so refuelling both fuel and food was not a problem. There are few facilities quite a way across the site. A very good spot to see North Yorks or overnight stop on way to Scotland. We would revisit.
