September stay

When staying at Troutbeck I sliced open a finger. The wardens, as always, were brilliant! We have stayed here many times and love it. This years wardens being particularly nice. Thanks again.

Lovely location, poor facilities

We have just left Troutbeck after having had a long weekend there. Lovely location and great views. The washrooms are showing their age, botched repairs to the men's shower floors, and a generally tired block.  A big minus is the lack of wi fi, especially as there is no mobile phone signal on site. It's about time that this site was brought into the 21st Century!  The male head warden could do with improving his people skills! However these points aside, it's a lovely site, in a great location. We will return, but only when the shower block is refurbished, and wifi is installed.

Well worth a visit

We have stayed 4 times at Troutbeck Head. It is one of our favourite sites with breathtaking views of Blencathra. It is close to Keswick, Penrith and the Rheged Centre. Also close to Ullswater, one of the most beautiful of the Lakes. The site is well laid out with plenty of room between outfits. The wardens and caretakers are both friendly and helpful. The toilet blocks are clean and well maintained. All the facilities are of the highest standard. If I could have just one wish, it would be to have wi fi available. But with so many giant mountains around, I guess this could be difficult.  We are looking forward to many more visits in the future!  Many thanks.

Stunning Location & Immaculate Site

Don't need to say too much other than this is a great site in a stunning location.  Not only that but the Wardens take a very obvious pride in their work and attitude to customer care.  Very well done!! Barry Worth Wilts

Most enjoyable short stay

Enjoyed our short stay at this site immensely helped by some fantastic weather and the beautiful local scenery. As a rather inexperienced caravanner, who reverses with some trepidation, the staff couldn't have been more helpful in getting me onto a pitch without endangering any fellow campers or holding up the site traffic. The washrooms were pristine and whilst not used by us the games room would have helped keep kids happy on wetter days. Good location for exploring Ullswater and Keswick, where there is a large choice of dining. Access to site was easy and it's proximity to M6 make it a great stop off location. Not ideal if reliant on public transport or nearby hostelries.

Lovely Troutbeck

Lovely views of Blencathra, also we were so lucky with the weather for our week there.  Good location for the northern Lakes though with easy connection to Ambleside and Bowness.  The toilet blocks are rather old and tired - perfectly clean but need updating.  With no mobile telephone signal (O2) and no Club wifi, there is a real problem of staying 'connected'.  We needed to go to Penrith to get e-mails and necessary information.  The Troutbeck Inn, just up the road, remains highly recommended for excellent food and a memorable meal.  This site needs some investment to bring it up to normal Club standards, but otherwise is fine.

Great Site

Just had a great 4 nights at this site. The facilities are spotless and the wardens friendly and helpful, the site itself is well laid out and has excellent views over the surrounding countryside the site is very close to the motorway but it feels very rural. There is also a games room on site with pool tables, table tennis etc. Keswick, Ambelside, Bo'ness, Ullswater etc are all easily accesible from the site. We had a meal a the Kirkstone Inn the food was great and the price very reasonable. Overall we had a great time at a great site.
