Excellent

Can't agree that the wardens were not friendly!  We found them to be lovely. Very helpful and waved when they passed.  Fixed our tv problem straight away. Lovely site, very easy to access and peaceful and quiet.  Our grandkids loved the table tennis and pool room and didn't even miss the wifi!!! Lovely for them to run free.  Easy to get to Keswick, Grasmere and all the nice places around.  Lots to do in Keswick on a rainy day.  On the way home, the kids said they loved that site and would like to go back

Big site, wardens could have been a bit more customer friendly

This is a huge site situated quite a way out of the main Lakeland attractions and in a sort of no-mans land of moor, bog and felled forestry. The wardens were not particularly helpful, we have a disabled member of our party and twice asked for the key for the entrance barriers only to be told that we didn't need one. We did (need one) and this ended up in us having to leave our car in the visitor car park when we needed to get back into the site and walking back to our pitch, which was located at the other side of the site. The facilities were spotless and well maintained, the dog walk was out into the (felled) forestry and was great for a bike ride. It was fun watching the next door trekking centre horses being rounded up each morning although the quad bike trail riding from the said centre meant this site was not the most peaceful. We will chose a more central location in a traditional lakeland setting next time as we left after our stay feeling quite depressed and desperate to move on.

Excellent Club Site

As far as I'm concerned this is the best caravan club site that we've been to yet. Access is a doddle via the A66 and A5091. It is a lovely quiet campsite, even in August there were often quite a few empty pitches, and even when full it was nice and quiet. It is true that a drive is required to see the sights, but that didn't bother us. The site was spotlessly clean and the wardens were extremely helpful. We have 2 boys and they also loved the site, being pleased that they could ride their bikes. We will certainly be using this site again, soon I hope! The only thing that I could suggest is that in the Service Pitch area they could make it one way, as it stands at the moment there is no one way system and you could meet another outfit or motor home head on; not that we did though.

Excellent site

Troutbeck is an excellent site for exploring the Northern area of The Lake District. As always ( in my experience so far ) the site is well kept by the wardens. Be aware that if you choose a pitch by the beck it can change from a quiet murmur to a bellow if the rain run off "wakes it up".

Nice Site

We had a 17 night stay at Troutbeck in early July. We didnt find a good pitch when we arrived, we were next to the waste trearment plant, even though deodorisers are used we could still smell it. We moved the next morning down to the babbling brook. The only problem we had (though not all the time) was the midgies, they were worst next to the waste treatment plant for some reason lol. Overall a very nice site. You should try the famous Hungarian goulash at the Dog and Gun in Keswick, very nice indeed. The clay pigeon shooting at the outdoor centre next door frightened our 2 dogs, its not everyday, but still unsettled the dogs. We enjoyed our stay at Troutbeck Head, though not sure if we would return. Just a note, August is usually the wettest summer month in the lakes.

lakeland bliss

we have just spent 10 nights here arriving on saturday 15/8/15, to the best welcome we've received from a site. they advised where to pitch up etc and gave us a choice of how we could pitch, this gave us an option to take in the fantastic views. we were on pitch 30 right next to the babbling brook, it was absolutely beautiful midges and insects aside( advise insect repellent on site ). the dog walk although not actually on site was great for walking us and the dog enjoyed many a stroll up there. There are two toilet blocks and although a little update maybe required they were always clean with plenty of hot water. staff always working to tidy the city and keep it well landscaped. Going out, only a few miles from ullswater, 15miles roughly from both penrith and keswick.lots of info in th information room, but we would recommend a pub called the old mill its about 15 minis away ask the reception team for a card. but i would say without hesitation asa must go would be the boot and shoe in grey stoke again about 15 mins away i would advise booking and the food is amazing with huge portions, and to add to that very reasonably priced with great staff. Had act issues whilst there the staff recommended a garage (braithwaites in Newbiggin) very helpful beyond the norm helpful and again very reasonably priced.all in all a great holiday, and as always we decided to look at a few of the other sites we looked to know did we make the right choice, we both felt that hands down we had made the best decision to stay at Troutbeck Head. will go back again without hesitation but try and take some good weather with us next time.

Excellent

Excellent facilities. Heated shower and toilet block which is spotless at all times. Showers are superb, which was very welcome as it was wet and cold when I visited. Very welcoming staff. Excellent location, easy access from road. Superb, flat, gravelled pitches. I travel alone and it is one of the best sites I have visited and hope to return next year.

Beautiful scenery

Another wonderful 4 night stay, we love this site it's a great walking area for the dogs. Site was tidy, the toilets were kept very clean by the wardens but some campers could do better by cleaning the toilets after using them. It's a great site with plenty of places to visit within a short drive away. A pleasant welcome by lovely wardens nice talking to Tracy , well done for making our stay our pleasurable one. You all work hard but it's shows, the planters are beautiful the grass is kept tidy ,See you all soon.

perfect walking location

Really enjoyed our recent stay at the site. Great location for what we like doing - bring our dogs and going for big walks. Great Dodd walk direct from the site and several more within a short drive. Very Busy August weekend when we arrived, site is laid out on several levels and didn't feel overly crowded. Only gripes were with other campers really (too many kids playing behind our caravan and people not leaving the toilets in a manner they would wish to find them), CC Staff obviously can't control that! To be fair if we wanted to avoid kids we should have booked somewhere else. The sites great location and very friendly and helpful staff more than make up for the minor gripes.
