Good stay

Had a very warm welcome from the staff, the site very clean and well kept. Booked a service pitch the first pitch the waste water drian was two high so the water would not flow, but was sorted after asking the staff if we could move to another pitch. Unfortunately the weather was more like autum then summer but it did not stop the holiday as there is a lot to do in the area even when it is raining. Would recommend the site if you are visiting the lakes.

We'll return one day

Agree with all Kittiwink said - we also stopped at this convenient location on the way back from Scotland, if the weather had been more favourable we would have spent longer here. As it was, we drove down past Ullswater and Windermere on the way to Southport, beautiful way to see the area.

Beautiful

We stopped here for two days on our way home to Scotland but it is worth a lot longer.  It is not too far from the motorway but when you get there it is deep into the lovely countryside.  The site itself is clean and tidy and beautifully laid out.  Worth another visit.

Practical location for visiting the Lake District

Easy site to reach off a major road, giving access to the whole of the Lake District.  Well stocked shop on site.  Site kept very clean and tidy by friendly warden team.  Great that there are 2 toilet blocks closed at different times for cleaning - so that there is always one open for use.

Another fantastic visit

This was our first stop on our way to Scotland three weeks ago and it always meets the caravan club expectations. We used a serviced pitch and the pitch sizes are great. Peace and quiet even better. Facilities are always clean and tidy and the wardens helpful if you need them. Only a short drive to ullswater too! Highly recommended.

Good site and wonderful weather

This is a large site with well kept grounds. It is, as one reviewer has said 'miles from anywhere'. So if you have a motorhome and no other transport it may not be the site for you. We enjoyed superb weather and spent the sunny evenings entranced by the swifts and house martins. The drawback to this site is the rather depressing toilet block and the games room. The latter is dark, gloomy and smells damp. The toilets and showers, although perfectly clean could perhaps do with a re-vamp when opportunity and finances allow. To be told to put your shoulder to the loo door to lock it because it's warped is perhaps not entirely helpful, although practical!

Witsun Break

Although we had a mixed week weather wise, the site was beautiful, clean and tidy with friendly wardens. The only thing we thought was strange was the toilet blocks, two of them with only 4 loos and showers in each - mens and ladies. At peak times you have to wait so get up, go early or late at night!!
