Fantastic base

Our first visit (caravaning) to Yorkshire, stunning site for walking, didn't use the car from arrival to departure,   if you like walking with the dog from the site plenty of variants available.   It is obvious that grassington has specialised in the farming of visitors, and I suspect in high season would be very busy, but in October worth a day browsing.

Great base for walking

Stayed here 3 nights  in mid October. Friendly welcome at reception, good spacious pitches, and all very clean and tidy. Thought the toilet/shower facilities, whilst immaculately maintained, could do with a bit of a makeover but that's being just a bit picky. Excellent base for walking. There is a bus service from Grassington to the South (about 2 hourly), and (at the moment - check, this may change) sometimes to Kettlewell and Buckden. We'll be back, certainly, for more walking.

Mid Term Break

We stayed at this site as part of a weeks mid term break in October. The site is as described and in a lovely setting. Wardens were friendly and made us very welcome. Pitches are large and mostly hard standing. TV aerial connections are attached to each Electric post and site sells 25 metre aerial cables. There is a nice pub within five minutes walk on a footpath through adjacent Static caravan park. The pub is being refurbished. Grassington is a 35 minute walk via paths and country roads. Grassington has some nice tourist shops and also has Spar Butcher and baker. There are a couple of country pubs. Bus service runs to Skipton and also Ilkley. There is a community based book in advance bus service on sat evenings linking Dales village pubs. Would recommend this site for walking and visiting the scenic Dales and we will certainly return

Early October Break

Excellent break. Site was spotless (as always). Wardens were extremely friendly and helpful. Great area for walks. Great that pubs/restaurants in the main cater for taking dogs, too. Look forward to when we can go back again.

Tired

We have stayed here since opening at least 50 times Each year the facilities deteriorate and the club still us it as a cash cow due to its location and previous reputation.  I would not shower in such facilities at home so why when paying away. Everything needs a refresh

no reflection on wardens who do there best to keep it clean etc

Lovely site

We have stayed at this site many times and have never been disappointed. The area is wonderful for walking, especially if you have dogs, with the dog walk being a contender for the best one of all the sites we have stayed at. It opens out onto the moors, where you can walk for miles. Dog walkers should, however, beware of the enormous quarry above the site. The high vertical drops are fenced off but there are some gaps in the fence at various points and we were told that one puppy died there this year. We kept our dogs on the lead! The wardens are extremely friendly and helpful, and they have a good stock of DVDs available for rent at only £1 per night. We have no hesitation in recommending this site and the surrounding area.

Walk this way

We are always looking for club sites with plenty of walks 'from the gate' due to having a very energetic dog and this has got to be one of the best on the network. Brought a little map at reception (recommended by very pleasant & helpful wardens) with that many walks it was hard to decide which way to go! Grassington is a lovely little village and the handmade pork pies at the butchers are the best I have ever tasted & the homemade black pudding is fabulous with bacon & egg. It is so nice to be able to take the dog into a cafe..."The Retreat" has full marks. Keeping on a food theme "Bizzie Lizzies" restaurant  in Skipton served excellent  fish & chips, even if we did sit on the wall outside (but they allowed us to use the loo's which always helps!) Fantastic beautiful area, especially at this time of year, plenty of walking in every direction with not a sole in site at times and places to visit too - Malham cove is one to recommend. Our only tiny gripe is that some of the trees and shrubs around the site could be cut down to a lower level to allow the sun onto the pitches more - the trees around the edge of the site provide shade if required. We will return!! Thank you for a lovely week.

Great for Walking

Spent 10 days at this site and really enjoyed ourselves. All the staff that we talked too were helpful. We managed to walk most days several of them directly from the site and were very grateful for the hot showers when we returned. We can recommend a day at Fountains Abbey for those interested in old ruins, the area they covered was enormous.

Visit to Wharfedale

Had a pleasant 4 days at Wharfedale. The weather was kind cool in the morning but the sun came out about noon. Visited Skipton, and Grassmere and had a nice walk along the river bank. Also had a visit to Malam Tarn.
