A good choice

We've just spent 5 nights at this site and have thoroughly enjoyed it.As m/homers we use our bus passes a lot and the bus services from Kessingland to Lowestoft,Yarmouth,Norwich and Southwold were better than we have at home in SOUTH STAFFS.The walk along the sand/shingle beach to Pakefield  was fairly easy (depending on your levels of fitness) especially at low tide.We had a brilliant meal at THE WATERFRONT a few yards from the site entrance,I have to say though we were lucky to get a table because we were willing to eat early,  the local pub was also very welcoming and we had a decent meal there also. Of course the weather plays a big part, but that, combined with friendly helpful staff who as usual do a fantastic job in keeping the place clean and tidy means that we will be returning, for sure.

Surprising

We have never been north for a trip, always played it safe and gone southwest for the weather and attractions. But now we will be going north more often, Norfolk is full of beautiful places to visit. The site is just perfect for families if your lucky enough to get a beach front pitch as we did, kids can play on the beach in front of your pitch where you can keep an eye on them from the comfort of your caravan or you can join them on the beach and be a kid again. the play park is out of action at the moment waiting for repairs also the site entrance is in need of some urgent pot hole repairs. The wardens are very friendly& helpful the site is a credit to there hard work. we will be booking again.

Great site

Spent a week here in may, lovely site very clean & well kept first day we pitched on the main site, at the time there were many families lots of children enjoying the camp which was fine but we just wanted an area a little quiter so the staff let us move to the sea front area across the road the next day when a space became available, there were alot of dogs but no problem with noise or mess & the area was very dog friendly,  plenty of walking areas & even the local pub let them in. At the time there was a music & beer festival on at the pub, this made for a great weekend with good local bands & even better local beer (I think I tried all 15 over the  weekend not sure) loads to do in the area or further afield in Norfolk or just laze by the van looking out to see, will definitely stop again in the future.

Stunning views of the sea

Stayed here for a week in June. Reception was helpful and efficient and soon had us sited overlooking the sea, wonderful. Walks on the (shingle/sand) beach and along the very wide prom, great. Site facilities need to be a little larger to cope with the morning rush, but are clean and showers are piping hot. A visit to Somerlayton house is highly recommended, stunning. Even Lowestoft was a great surprise, much better than I remember it. This is a great part of the world, go visit.

Lovely Site & Great Staff

This was our first experience of a CC Site.  The staff were very helpful and the pitches clean and good. The Toilet Blocks very clean and everything clearly marked so we could find our way round.  We were lucky to get a beach side location and loved it. Waking up to a sea view made for a relaxing weekend. Will visit again soon.. Loved it!

Best Suffolk coast site

We havn't been here for 4 years and have found that the heavy trimming of the trees has made a big difference, opening out the site. It offers a very good choice of beach, grass and hard standing pitches. The only down side is that many of the hard standings are being overgrown by grasses and weeds. It is a very good site for visiting all the nature reserves on the Suffolk coast. As usual, the facilities were spotless.

Excellent site and great location

We arrived on Sunday lunchtime at this site with fingers crossed we would get a hardstanding.  What we actually got was one of the three hardstandings on the beachfront part of the site that can take an awning. We couldn't have been more pleased having a sea view from our front window. The site is easy to get to with the approach road running directly off a roundabout on the A12.  Do beware that the approach road has a few houses without driveways on it, so expect to negotiate around a few parked cars and the final part of the approach road is very narrow hence the 20mph speed limit signs, with two 90 degree bends at the end of it, so do take it easy down there. The site is actually two separate sites, each with its own toilet and facilities block and like most CC sites it is impeccably clean and tidy.  There is beach access through the beachfront part of the site, through a small gate. The beach is predominantly shingle, but that section allows dogs all year round, so some great walking available. There is a Morrison's just five minutes away in Lowestoft complete with petrol station and a nice chip shop in Kessingland village and well as a local Co-Op  etc.  Outing wise, there are some great places to see, so never be short of places to go.  There is a regular bus that terminates within easy walking distance of the site, for those that want a break from driving when away. The wardens were extremely friendly on this site and couldn't have done more to make everyone's stay a great one. They are a credit to the club. Great site - well recommended.

SECOND VISIT

Well we have just returned from our second B/H on this site this year (wonderful) The wardens are some of the best my wife and I have met, friendly and always helpful.Site is well maintained and clean. Toilet block cleaning times a bit early, but not really a problem . My biggest gripe with this site and many others are the lunatic kids on bikes ,sooner or later somebody is going to get hurt, please slow down . Parents teach your children to respect others. The only other point is the rather large pothole at the entrance to the site (BEWARE).

Repeat visits

One of our favourite sites. Location is good and suited to weekends or longer. Site is split between a usual layout at the back with a "beach" section to the front: however the front can be noisy and windy. Moderns new blocks with an extra older/smaller one to use when others are closed for cleaning. Facilities are well maintained by good staff. Chip van on Friday is good. We love the Transport Museum at Carlton Colville but advise checking the web for opening hours. A short distance away are Dunwich Heath and RSPB Minsmere both of which are worth visiting: good walks and wildlife. Easy reach of Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth (and Broads if wanted) but roads at times can be slow.

Sea view

Stayed on this site recently, and chose to be on the top site overlooking the sea, lovely view but the noise from the road was horrendous from early morning to late at night, like being camped on the m1. But apart from that the bottom site was lovely and the wardens friendly and helpful, there is a fish and chip van on site on Friday night, not very good, but the pub and the restaurant just a few yards up the road were both good for meals would visit this site again but not on the top site there was no warning of road noise in any paperwork or online
