Lively Liverpool

The Wirral country park site is easy to access and sits on a lovely estuary giving lovely views across the water if you are lucky enough to get a pitch on that side of the site. The childrens play area is situated centrally but there are enough pitches away from here for those who like peace and quiet. The site was opened in 1988 and I have to confess that aside from the newest part of the site, the rest needs a bit of tender loving care. Don't mis-understand me it is a lovely site but it could be much better with a little attention to the pitches and grass areas, though to be honest this will not stop us returning. Liverpool itself is a great city, bustling and lively with plenty of places to eat and some really great shops. It has the big advantage of a centrally appointed coach park, 10mins walk from the shops that costs £8.00 for 3 hrs or £15 for an overnight stay. We parked our motorhome here and boy were we glad we did for the day that we visited the city it chucked it down on the way back to the car park and we got so wet we may as well have jumped into the Mersey we were soaked to the skin! No worries though, into the motorhome, curtains closed and change into lovely dry fresh clothes. I have to say at that time we were glad to be motorhomers rather than caravaners. We will definitely return as there is so much of the city left to see that we could not fit in to a long weekend>

Site only minutes from home. We use as often as we can, great.went 24/8  to 31/8. Wardens brilliant and always helpful. Toilet block hasn't changed much in15 years needs updating and possibly another block down the far end along with water points of which there are 2 for whole site but that's down to the club not the wardens. Also while I'm on pricing. This is a club run for members(self 20 years on and off)why do they run it like a tour company putting prices up at peak times school holidays etc. The facilities don't change or improve.anybody any answer?

Great site , great location , stunning views

We only live 30 mins away from the site but we love it as it is such a peaceful and stunning location , there are so many places on your doorstep Liverpool and Chester as well as the Heswall and west Kirby within walking or cycling distance on the Wirral way. The site is a combination of grassed and hard standing , there is only one toilet shower block but it's less then a few minutes walk from all areas of the site , always spotless when we have been there . The wardens are lovely and are doing a great job we just wish it wasn't booked up so often !

3 superb nights

Great long weekend even with the wind and rain. There is such a good feeling to the site,  nothing is too much trouble for the wardens. Everyone we spoke with was friendly and very welcoming. I normally don't leave reviews but two weekend in a row proved to me that this site a gem.  We will certainly be making every effort to stay there a lot more often.  Keep up the great work wardens,  especially Keith.

great site and location

Firstly I cannot believe the last review that was left on 27/8/15. The people were obviously upset that the site was nearly full. This can happen anywhere surely. Yes it is unfortunate they were next to the childrens area but thats the luck of the draw in mid summer. As for bad signage IF A SITE IS BUSY THE OBVIOUS THING TO DO IS TO LOOK BEFORE DRIVING UP. As for flooding we left just before 12 oclock on the 28th and yes there were puddles. Thats what happens when it rains. Rant over!! We are regular visitors to this site and have always loved our time there. We have spoken to many other guests over the last three years and have NEVER heard any negative comments. The site is beautifully kept the toilet block is great and the play area is extremely popular. The wardens are efficient and very helpful. 10 out of 10 and how anybody can say different is beyond me.

dissapointed

We were really looking forward to the weekend ,but we arrived late  and there were only 3 plots left all overlooking the play ground which is good if you have a young family  but we were looking for a bit of peace. all roads were flooded on the site and it looked run down  in the area we stayed on   the gravel needed replacing or cleaning one problem we did have  when we arrived we turned down two  dead ends  that were not signposted  and had to do a 3 point turn with the caravan speaking to other members this happens white a lot on this site  so beware ! the toilet block and waste disposal looked tired and needs improving

I think the location is good but the site needs money spending on the areas around the playground

the site  needs  the drainage improving  as most of the roads were flooded

August 2015

Just back from my first visit to The Wirral Country Park. Out of 8 days, I had 5 with good weather which was lovely. Great location for beach and local walks with the dogs. My only negative comment would be regarding the toilet block, which is very dated and with only 4 small shower cubicals. People often having to wait for a shower to become free. We were unfortunate to arrive when a burst water main meant very intermittent water for 2 and a half days.

August 2015

Stayed 3 nights last week. Very friendly staff and very helpful. Beautiful location with great walks along estuary. Beach 5 minutes away. Nice walk along coast on Wirral Way to West Kirby, slow paced one hour.  Close to Liverpool  and other local attractions. Some complain about the facilities. Yes the toilet block is on the smaller side and not as modern as some sites, but hey it's spotlessly clean and provides everything you'll need. Certainly plan to return.

Great for dogs owners and location to Liverpool

Well located for a visit into Liverpool. Cars / Motorhomes just travel to hoylake park and ride about 3 miles from the site.  Trains run every 20 minutes and are always on time.  £4.20 return per adult into Liverpool free parking.  Site has excellent wardens. Dog walks are opposite the site entrance which are clearly signposted.  They can take you towards the river dee and are safe to walk dogs off lead as there is no traffic just the occasional horse to be wary of. Spent 3 nights there last week.
