Great site but wow kids can make some noise

OK we (me, wife and 2 year old son) stopped for a mere two nights as i was competing in the Liverpool triathlon on the sunday morning.  We arrived and the staff were great we wanted somewhere near the toilet block so the first pitch we came to we went on it. Right opposite the play area (most pitches are) we set up and everything was fine and dandy. My little lad wanted to go on the play area, there was maybe 20 kids aged 10-16 on it water pistols aplenty all the equipment soaked my son wouldn't go on anything. So he went to play in the little house next thing one of the bigger is jumping on the roof obviously i said to get down and was basically ignored.  As the night progressed the behavior of the kids got worse. They were cutting to the pitches behind past our van so close they were banging on it as they walked past which is no good when your son is trying to get to sleep at 9pm. The noise continued till 10pm so where were these kids parents? why were they letting them act like this? do they not have any respect for other people who use the caravan sites? also why did the wardens not come and say anything?  Apart from the kids the site was a good well kept site right on 'wirral way' which i had a short run down seemed great for family bike rides etc.  I do hope the staff don't take this review personally as they were very friendly and kept the site in great condition hence the star rating i have given.

Cycle the Wirral Way

If staying at this great site remember your bike. I would agree with other comments regarding the showers, they are a little tired and a bit on the cramped side but still spotlessly clean which to me is most important. New hard standing pitches are out of the way and very quite. Good site for dogs as you can walk them on the Wirral Way. Wardens as ever very helpful. Look forward to my next visit

First class - but...

Absolutely super site with lots to do in the immediate area and also within a short drive. Pleasant wardens and very difficult to fault - with the exception of the showers. I wonder if the people who built them ever tried to get undressed/dried/dressed in them. Compared to other CC sites, these are surely in need of a makeover. Apart from that - a first class site.

July 2015

We have stayed here on numerous occasions so were eager to see the improvements. The extra hard standing pitches were excellent and I'm sure that the wardens appreciated the refurbished office. I just wish that the toilet block facilities had been extended and that there was more than 2 service areas for water on this busy site. As usual hard working wardens and fantastic scenery.

July mid-week stay

We visited the site on a Monday & Tuesday, school holiday time so quite busy but it is spread out and didn't feel too full. The site location is perfect with loads of open space which made me surprised that so many families with children seemed to stay on site. With the country park and beach to go at there is lots of free "entertainment" to be had. The wardens were very friendly, always having a smile and a wave as they did their work around the site. We had a walk into West Kirby on our 2nd day up the Wirral Way, an hour or so steady walk but very easy and level walking. We will return & remember the bikes next time

Fantastic site

We have just returned from a 9 night stay. The site is set in a lovely location with plenty of walks and a view over looking the Dee Estuary. The "assistant"wardens Keith and Tracey were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. We absolutely loved the site and will definitely return again.

First time here

A great site for peace and quiet. we stayed here in June for 5 nights and the weather was kind to us. Lovely walks along the old railway track and through the Wirral country park, Service block clean, apart from booking in didn't see the wardens much. A very relaxing time with lovely neighbours and great views of the Dee estuary.

Another great break.

I love this sites position. Nice to see improved wardens reception area. Good to see the usually damp area with hardstanding. I have never seen a warden work as hard, always checking on newcomers Helpful and plesant every time I met him. I enjoyed my bike rides from the site. My dog enjoyed her walks. We even had some sunshine. Please can we have an improved toilet/shower block by next year.

Do it the 'Wirral Way'!

First week in June and another really good short break at this enjoyable site.  Pleased the hard working Wardens have had an office upgrade, not before time.  Just the outdated toilet block needs replacing now - it must be one of the 'originals'? The Wardens do their best but the toilet block is often steamed up and awash.  Increased number of hard standings useful. Walking - cycling on The Wirral Way is great, with plenty of scenery and good watering holes within striking distance. The visiting chippy was a disappointment (Thursday).  Mediocre fish and chips at best - Not that this detracts from the site though, eat healthy next time!

Loved this little site

We visited this site at half term & totally loved it. We even managed to pitch up next to our friends which was nice as it's usually difficult on a club site as you can't book a pitch. We had a teenager & a dog in our party & the location meant lots of freedom for both with the beach & country park a stroll away. The Wirral Way cycle path runs right past the site & is excellent if you like a nice gentle cycle with lovely views. Our dogs loved the beach at West Kirby when the tide was out - such a large expanse of nice sand to run on without disturbing anyone, they were so tired after, we were able to enjoy our ice creams in peace ! What we liked about this area of the Wirral was its sleepiness- no commercialism which usually happens at seaside places but we found plenty to do. We did take a trip through the Mersey tunnel for a afternoon visit to Liverpool to visit the docks (for the teenagers mainly) & we were pleasantly surprised at how nice it was & while they wandered the shops we enjoyed the walk along the dock side looking at some of the interesting statues & plaques. This site is definitely on our return list as we felt we didn't even scratch the surface of the area in the time we had.
