York long weekend

We stayed for a long weekend on this site and would certainly come back. Staff were very willing to help and advise. The site is in easy driving distance of York centre, or just as easy to drive to the park and ride at Monks Cross and get a bus in. We are looking forward to staying here later this year.

Lovely Site

Second visit to this site within the last 10 months. Very tidy and clean, usual comment that the showers need updating.  My only moan was that the dog walk had been allowed to grow a bit wild making it very hard to find dog's mess!! Had to keep an eye on the spot and not the dog so that I could find the location, if you know what I mean.  Just don't see the point of that. Very friendly and helpful wardens :)

Not what it says on the tin is not York Beechwood Grange

Beechwood Grange is sited in the countryside 4 miles from York. We have stayed at the site on numerous occasions and found the pitches to be spacious, pretty and relaxing. There's plenty places to visit and the coast is less than an hour away. This is a first class friendly site which we we will return again and again. I think a previous review did not visit this site

It does what it says on the tin

If you are looking for a site which is close enough to get into York easily, this is the one for you. If you're looking for a quiet, pretty, relaxing country site - this isn't the one for you. We came only to spend time in York and stayed two nights. We really enjoyed York (though several locals told us not to ever come at the weekend, when hen/stag parties make it rowdy), loved the old centre, lovely parks, museums, galleries and shops. The amazing York Minster we just can't rate highly enough and it has it's own wonderful museum. So in many ways the site "did what it said on the tin" by giving us a bed for the night close to the centre of York. However, we usually stay only on CLs and this was our first full CC site. If this is typical then we won't book for any other CC sites. The wardens are efficient, pleasant, hard working and knowledgeable. Apparently (we only glanced inside) the loos/showers are very clean. But you are SO close to your neighbours with nothing between you for privacy (a few hedges between the pitches closest to the entrance). There's no privacy at all and we found this hard to cope with. For 2 nights close to York it did the job. For anything longer - for us no way! But only by booking here did we get a better idea of what a full CC site might be like and the difference between them and CLs.

Great site

We have visited this site several times and never been disappointed. It is great for children, and our two grandchildren love coming here. There is an excellent play park with separate areas for toddlers and up to teens, also a huge playing field suitable for ball games. The site is level and not too large so children can go round on their bikes or scooters freely. This site is well placed for the A64 leading to the east coast beaches at Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington. It's within a short distance of Monks Cross, with major shops, places to eat and the Park and Ride facility to The city of York. York itself has plenty for families to enjoy whatever the weather. The only complaint with CC sites is the lack of consideration shown by drivers who fail to observe the 5 MPH limit when driving around the sites. On this occasion children were being encouraged to remind drivers by showing a "high 5" to those going over the speed limit. (There is a video produced by the CC featuring children to get over the message) During this visit we were entering the site, on one occasion, along the access road with a speed limit of 10 MPH, followed by a car which sped up our tail, frightening the horses which are in the paddocks on both sides of the access road. This is a regular occurrence which we have noticed here, and the culprits are caravanners! Other than this, we will be back, in the near future.

wardens make the site

Our second brief visit this year. As always first impressions count a lot and on both visits the welcome and helpfulness of the wardens couldn't be bettered. The site itself is nicely laid out with good children's playground. The facilities, although not the newest, are very well maintained, as is the site generally. Any member staying here will be made to feel welcome on a well run and well maintained site.

Fantastic family holiday!

Have just returned from a 7 night stay at this fantastic site. The wardens are particularly friendly and helpful and they keep the site to a very high standard. The site is very child friendly with a very good playground as well as a play field. It is also very dog friendly too. Although dogs are not allowed to walk outwith the site due to the stud farm, there is a well thought out dog walk which our lab loved running around in! The site is very close to a park and ride so you can be in the centre of York very quickly. The coast is also easily accessible although the A64 can be very busy! Overall a great site which we will definitely be returning to in the future.

A Wonderful Holiday at a Brilliant Site

A Two Week Holiday at Beechwood Grange

Beechwood Grange is set within a Stud farm and the long driveway to the site has some beautiful horses to see. When we arrived at the site after a long dive from Devon we were greeted by Trevor and Pat the site managers who were extremely friendly and welcoming. We found our pitch and was highly delighted at the size of the pitches very large with toilet facilities close by.All the facilities were in immaculate condition and very clean infact the whole site was well looked after making you feel good about everything. The site is situated with in easy reach of York City and easy drive to East Coast and Pickering Moors. We had a fantastic two weeks there and will certainly be visiting again in the future a big thank-you to Trevor and pat and all there staff for making our two weeks a great stay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Relaxed Time

Three day was not enough.   A great welcome by the wardens and detailed explaination of the site.  Site clean and tidy.  Easy access to shops.  National Trust sites are close by.  Castle Howard is not to be missed. We have been to York before so chose to be out of the Centre -- a good decison for us, as road access is good. (If you wish to visit York we suggest the Rowntree site). I also like horses and it was brilliant to see the foals.

Great Site, Great Location

This was the very first site we ever went caravanning to and, whilst we haven't been to many, it is still one of the best we have visited. It isn't huge and there is only one toilet block but it is well equipped, well maintained and the landscaping makes for a pretty site... depending on where you pitch up. The toilet block is tidy, there is a toddlers bathroom, laundry, washing up sinks, showers, chemical toilet point, waste water and drinking water. The best thing, by far, is the location... Close to the Park & Ride for York... Overall very nice site, we've been back and we will go back again, no doubt.
