First time in Germany
Once we found the site we were directed to a very good pitch which overlooked the water and harbour entrance. We found the site very relaxing as we were able to enjoy just being on site and observing the river activity. The site is extremely popular with both over night stays and longer - we were 3 weeks on site and did not regret a moment. The situation is ideal for walking into town and indeed to access shops for all needs. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful and our lack of German was not a hinderance on site.
There were one or two things which could have been better, for example the grey water drain was
at the entrance of the site, the alternative was using the chemical disposal point, not ideal lifiting a wastemaster. Although there were two amenity blocks only one contained showers. Having said that despite the busyness of the site, access to a shower was never difficult.
A number of people we spoke to felt that the signage could have been better on arriving in Rudesheim. This was not helped by the road closure that was in place on the approach to the town. It would have been useful to have had more information about the use of the car ferry from Bingen. We did not use it on the way there but found it very easy to use for the return journey as we were able to explore during our time there. A worthwhile 13.50 euros for the crossing saved some miles.
