Still a great place to stay

We had 3 nights on site on our way to southern Germany and 2 on the way back. As ever the site and staff were very welcoming and friendly. The facilities on site are excellent and the local town is still as quaint as ever. We will use this site any time we are heading in that direction and may plan a longer stay next time to explore a bit further.

campsite Rudesheim 12/06/2016

We stayed here for a week(sun/sun)when we arrived at the reception the manager greeted us and spoke good english, showed us to our pitch which he sites you was facing the Rhine.. The toilet/ shower block are the cleanest i have ever since, lovely calm music playing in the toilets too, the only problem we had was nobody knew (other caravanners) where to empty the waste water so we empty it down the chemical toilet.restaurant was good too.A good 20 minute walk along the river will take you to the town of Rudesheim which was really nice, lovely shops and plenty of Restaurants to choose from.supermarkets(aldi, lidl) are only 15 min walk from the campsite.I will definitely be coming back.

A great site in an attractive part of the Rhine Valley

We have just returned from six enjoyable nights. The owners have worked hard for over twenty years to make this a neat, tidy and clean site with two spacious and modern facilities blocks. The site is a ten minute walk from the centre of the small tourist town and a similar walk to Lidl, Aldi and REWE. There are lots to do in the area - a stroll around town, walks in the hills, chair lifts, ferries across the river to Bingen and cruises down stream. We had a train trip to Mainz - an interesting small city - and Koblenz is only an hour away by train. Pitches are not defined, but you will always to 'sited' by the site team who manage the electrical hookups for you. They like to rotate things to protect the grass - after a wet period only caravans and small campers were allowed in some areas. We choose to pitch our motorhome at the far (quiet) end, close to the smaller toilet block (only the large block has showers). Hardstanding pitches close to the gate were available if we had wanted. The small shop/bar/cafe with a tables outside is very good. Local beer and wine are inexpensive and a small range of simple meals and snacks seemed to go down well. Two points to note. The pitches nearer the main block are close to berths for large cruise boats. These have to run their generator sets when they are berthed and some can be a bit noisy, although most leave before midnight. Whilst the motorhome hardstandings each have a tap and a grate for grey water, the method of disposing of grey water at the facilities blocks is a bit unclear. We found it easiest to empty our 'wastemaster' down 'chemical' toilet system. I did not see a 'service point' for motorhomes.

Campingplatz Rüdesheim am Rhein is a fantastic site owned by the Richter Family.

Great site in great location right on the banks of the Rhein. The owner Oliver Richter and his family are very friendly and helpful and cannot do enough for their guests. The toilet block is immaculate and always clean. You can order fresh rolls daily and there is a swimming pool next door.

Excellent Site

Location is very good, lots to do in and around Rudesheim. Site clean and tidy. Toilet blocks are the best you will ever find. Owner and all staff extremely helpful obliging and courteous. We visited twice this year and once last year and will probably go again next year. Cannot praise highly enough.

Neat site

Probably the best toilet block you'll ever come across on a camp-site! Seems the designer had an eye for space and distribution with the big bonus being that the WC's flushed cleanly first time every time - no waiting around for the cistern to fill before having another go! Downside was the lack of hardstands, no plugs for the basins (?), bottle of beer at €5.80 (Lidle €1.70), and no veggie menu at the cafe. If those don't excite you and you don't mind the other campers ignoring you when you say guten morgen it's thoroughly recommended. One other bonus was that I came back with a shopping bag full of fresh walnuts (site is peppered with walnut trees) and as an early riser I got most of them after the (even earlier rising) Norwegian couple behind us left.

Great Site

Great site with excellent, clean & well maintained facilities. Plenty to do and see in the area whether you want to relax or be active. Ruedesheim and shops are an easy walk away. The Rhine-side path makes for a lovely walk/ cycle and there are pleasant views over the local vineyards. The local trains and boat services are frequent and punctual so you can get out & about very easily. Motorhome serviced pitches were good and you can choose from shaded to sunny locations. The sunny ones are nearer the local open air pool so there may be music during the day at weekends or holiday times. The pool complex  includes baby / toddler pool, shallow (1m deep) pool for non swimmers / water play and a pool for swimmers and was busy in the good weather with locals and visitors alike. The campsite bar / restaurant overlooking the Rhine provides good food and although the choice isn't large it's home cooked and plentiful. The shop also sells the local wines it serves so you can purchase your favourites. The site doesn't take credit cards but that is fairly common in Germany so not really a problem with a little planning (plenty of banks / cash points in town). We had a great family holiday but all ages and nationalities seemed to be having a good time when we were there.

highly recommended

This is a superb site, facilities are absolutely immaculate with beautifully tiled toilet/shower blocks, small but good shop on site with local shops within easy reach. We received a warm welcome from the owner and his son. Easy walk into centre of Rudesheim. We would happily return to this site in future and would recommend it highly.

Superb site, great location, friendly staff, lovely facilities.

On our first trip ever to Germany we took a punt on this site based on previous reviews. Wow, we were not disappointed. Even though we arrived quite late, we had a friendly greeting, by the owners son, who's English was impeccable. The owner then led us to a free area and gave us the choice of spots to pick, and we were lucky enough to get a spot backing onto the Rhine. The site isn't as big as you'd imagine and that's a good thing. The toilet and shower facilities are superb, very very clean, and incredibly modern. The site is almost completely level, has some good open spaces, but enough trees to provide some shade and lots of birds.  It's a mere ten minutes walk into Rudesheim which is a beautiful little town. But despite the small size it has lots going on, and lots of places to eat and drink. The site is ideally situated for train travel into Frankfurt, and there are many lovely towns and sites to visit within a 60-90 minute drive. We found all the other caravanners and campers to be very friendly and the staff were all very good too. The site has a small shop and a small restaurant which while a little limited is very handy. A great site, and we'd happily stay again any time.

First time in Germany

Once we found the site we were directed to a very good pitch which overlooked the water and harbour entrance. We found the site very relaxing as we were able to enjoy just being on site and observing the river activity. The site is extremely popular with both over night stays and longer - we were 3 weeks on site and did not regret a moment. The situation is ideal for walking into town and indeed to access shops for all needs. The owner and staff could not have been more helpful and our lack of German was not a hinderance on site. There were one or two things which could have been better, for example the grey water drain was at the entrance of the site, the alternative was using the chemical disposal point, not ideal lifiting a wastemaster. Although there were two amenity blocks only one contained showers. Having said that despite the busyness of the site, access to a shower was never difficult. A number of people we spoke to felt that the signage could have been better on arriving in Rudesheim. This was not helped by the road closure that was in place on the approach to the town. It would have been useful to have had more information about the use of the car ferry from Bingen. We did not use it on the way there but found it very easy to use for the return journey as we were able to explore during our time there. A worthwhile 13.50 euros for the crossing saved some miles.
