Excellent site

Camping Valkenburg-Maastricht
Stayed here for 5 nights at the beginning of September 2023 during a late summer heatwave. The site is well equipped and well laid out. There is a lovely swimming pool complex with 2 pools and a paddling area. No life guard so children must be accompanied. Made full use of the pool during our stay owing to the heat! Sanitary facilities are adequate and kept clean. Staff speak excellent English and are very helpful. You can order bread / croissants etc from reception to be delivered in the morning. Needless to say, they're a bit more expensive than they are at the bakery but that's the price of convenience! It's a 2km walk downhill into Valkenburg, but obviously 2km uphill on the way back. Valkenburg is a pretty town but quite touristy. There is nothing but restaurants and bars on the main street, It has the only hilltop castle in the Netherlands! From Valkenburg it's easy to get a train to nearby Maastricht, which is well worth a visit. You can also get a train to Aachen. Would definitely stay here again/

May trip as a base

Camping Valkenburg-Maastricht
This is a good site, just outside the town of Falkenburg, practically on the Dutch-Belgian-German border. It’s a large site, primarily grass pitches but some hard. Pitch blocks are separated by good hedging. Site power is 12 amps. The toilet blocks are good but you’ll need a travel plug for any of the sinks. Facilities are great. They have a small shop with basic goods plus orders for fresh bread etc. (delivered the next morning). The bar has a good inside and a terrace and serves a range of drinks and snacks. The food stall was not open yet when we visited. The pool was good and swimmable if you like your lengths - about 15m long, next to a children’s paddling pool. It’s about a 15 min walk to Valkenburg station for trains into Maastricht, was was lovely. Valkenburg itself is a beautiful, cosy, small town, with some nice squares for sitting in a cafe and watching the world go by. The castle was well worth a visit.

Netherlands trip December 2022

Camping Valkenburg-Maastricht
The site and facilities were kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. During our stay all the staff were very friendly, there were information leafets accessible to us and we could order fresh croissants and bread rolls each day delivered from a local bakery. The site was very quiet but that was due to it being winter just before Christmas. We would definitely go back there for another stay (again in winter but also during the summer to see how busy it gets ! and to make use of the swimming pools that were out of use over the winter).

Pre Christmas holiday

Camping Valkenburg-Maastricht
Great place to visit , town within easy reach , good travel links and lots to see during Nov/Dec as the town becomes Christmas town , lots of local shops as well as Christmas markets ( at least 5 markets) Lots of restaurants to choose from - from coffee&cake and people watching to more formal dining Great base to use to visit further afield using public transport which is clean and efficient Loved our visit

Visit to Valkenburg July 2022

Camping Valkenburg-Maastricht
Have been to Valkenburg a few times, but first visit to this site. The staff, facilities, and cleanliness is very good. The pitches are a very good size. There was no food truck open during my stay. The shop is in my opinion less than basic. The biggest problem with the site is the distance into Valkenburg. I am not convinced it is less than 2km. There is no public transport. It is downhill all the way, and of course uphill all the way back, not good if you have a lot of shopping. The road is quite narrow in places and no pavement. On one day I managed to get a taxi (not cheap at €14) but the other day no taxi around so had to walk back. If you had to walk back in the dark there are few, if any, street lights. Unless you have transport (ie caravanners with a car) or a very keen and fit walker/hiker access to Valkenburg is difficult, especially for those with Motorhomes, and people with mobility problems.
