Proper CL
Church Hills
Great simple site which is what you should expect from a proper CL.
Mowed level field on very quiet road and rural location.
Close to the A421 which makes this a good stopover for those on loner trips.
Big shops close to stock up for a lovely stay.
I've given 5 star but watch out for tight access. Gap in the hedge along the road is best.

A lovely basic site
Church Hills
Let’s start with the one negative - ease of arrival. There are two entrances to the field but neither are very well signed. We missed both entrances and had to turn around, reversing into one of the side roads in the village. On the way back we saw a motorhome in the field and turned in but still had to ask the occupants to make sure we were in the right spot. Once this was confirmed we pitched up and settled into our break. My wife later noticed the old Caravan Club sign, very dirty and hanging by two chains from a tree by the south entrance. The other slight concern was the fresh water tap. You will need a hose with a hoselock type connector to fill the water container as the tap is at right angles with an attachment that points upwards. Other than that all went smoothly. It is a basic site, the toilet emptying facilities are fine and there are recycling and general waste bins. There was no real welcome as the site operates an honesty box system, this is not a criticism, it’s just how this site works. That said Mr. Harrison popped over to say hello during our stay and made sure we were happy, which of course we were. There are plenty of walks from the site and the local pub is a short walk away. It’s very friendly, serves good food and good beer. After the first night we were the only ones on site, which is a shame, as this is a very peaceful and well located basic site. I hope it gets more use and, therefore, stays open so that we continue to have off grid sites to return to.

We have just come back from a weekend here.
We had one other caravan on site for 1 night and then we were on our own!
Don’t want to go into too much detail as don’t want too many finding it!
We watched the fantastic sunset whilst walking the dog, children loved playing in the field and watching the birds.
Sampled the Toby Carvery which is approximately 10 minutes down the road.
Go Outdoors is a five minute drive away for any caravan needs.
Best advice site is on left just after Ravensden Village hall.

From our first phone enquiry when we were told, “arrive when you want, pitch where you want and leave when you want, for £8 per night in an honesty box” we knew we had found a little gem.
Lovely big field next to a road into a beautiful village, with a pub. Field does slope so levellers were needed. No EHU, but water and toilet waste.
Great wildlife, with a resident pheasant and woodpecker. Lots of public footpaths across the local countryside to go exploring,
We had a really relaxing few days and will return.
An inexpensive basic site in a good location.
Church Hills
This is a pleasant site in an attractive village. We paid £5 per night which we thought was very good value but the facilities are very basic. There are several options for dog walking on the local footpaths. It’s a good area to explore by bicycle. The nearby lanes and villages are very attractive. There’s a choice of pubs nearby. There’s a Tesco and a Waitrose about 2 miles away just off the A421 in Goldington on the outskirts of Bedford. We were there quite early in the season and there were signs on the ground that sheep had been grazing there over winter. This made Wellington boots a necessity. I think it would be better a bit later on in the season.
