Ideal CL

Moss Thorn
This CL is ideally located just outside Penrith. It has easy access to the M6, petrol stations and the town centre, yet it is far enough away to be peaceful. On a working farm, it is fairly basic but has all that you need…a toilet, fresh water, electricity and waste disposal. We used it on our way to Scotland to break up our journey and we were lucky enough to use it on the way back after our trip was cut short suddenly. Friendly owners who leave you to your own devices and well worth the pitch fee. Thanks

Great overnighter

Moss Thorn
We were travelling up to Galloway and never travel more than 3 hours if we can help it. Moss Thorn, 5 miles to the west of Penrith fits this need. Its roughly 3 miles from the M6 and situated on the approach to the farm. All you need is there and the owners have really suffered this year due to the virus. We had a warm welcome, pitched up and found a puncture on the van. Greenflag were with us within half an hour. The area was pretty soggy so we were glad of the hardstanding. Apart from going into Penrith for fuel from Morrisons we didnt do much as the weather was vile. As staed good overnighter with pleasant owners and plenty to do.

A RETURN VISIT TWICE

Moss Thorn
Visited in 2017 for the first time and enjoyed our stay so we thought we would visit again this year.We booked 2weeks in late July & early Aug just as the weather was changing but no worries.A good stay as there is plenty to do in the area. Seeing that we still enjoyed the site we booked another 2 weeks after visiting Scotland on our way back home. The repeat visit went down well so who knows about future travels. Thank you Mr & Mrs Fisher hope you keep busy.

Spring visit to Moss Thorn

Moss Thorn
This Cl is easily access being about 3 mls from the M6. It has a wide entrance off the quiet B5288 from Penrith to Greystoke and has 5 H/S pitches, some of them newly laid, with EHU, views over the adjacent fields and a toilet. Although there is no dog walk on the site there's a broad grass verge from the gate for about 100 m to a farm track ideal for walking ones dog(s). Penrith, 3 mls away, has all the usual supermarkets. The site is handy for exploring the northern lakes, being about 8 mls from Ullswater and 15 from Keswick, and Rheged, the Lakeland Heritage Centre is only 4 mls away. At £10 pn this site is a real bargain and we will certainly return.
