Easy access, a good base for exploring the area
Moss Thorn
Very easy access roads for all vehicle types.
The road is fairly busy and not one you would want to walk along during the day but quietens down at night. The CL is quiet overnight.
For walking/dog walk go up to the road, turn right walk along wide verge for 100m to pick up footpath/track signed Moss Rigg.
Gravel pitches with adjacent grass area. 16 amp EHU incl in £16 pn rate which we paid in cash at farmhouse.
Poor Vodafone/O2 signal but Three seemed to work fine.
Friendly owners.
Overall a good value , tidy CL which is a good base for exploring the area which we would be happy to return to.
Everything we wanted
Moss Thorn
Very easy access from M6, and good wide access on to site. Water, toilet and chemical disposal handy for pitches. Very friendly welcome. It's about 25 minutes drive from Keswick so a good option for the Northern Lake District. Would definitely use again.

Ideal CL
Moss Thorn
This CL is ideally located just outside Penrith. It has easy access to the M6, petrol stations and the town centre, yet it is far enough away to be peaceful.
On a working farm, it is fairly basic but has all that you need…a toilet, fresh water, electricity and waste disposal.
We used it on our way to Scotland to break up our journey and we were lucky enough to use it on the way back after our trip was cut short suddenly.
Friendly owners who leave you to your own devices and well worth the pitch fee. Thanks
Great overnighter
Moss Thorn
We were travelling up to Galloway and never travel more than 3 hours if we can help it. Moss Thorn, 5 miles to the west of Penrith fits this need.
Its roughly 3 miles from the M6 and situated on the approach to the farm. All you need is there and the owners have really suffered this year due to the virus. We had a warm welcome, pitched up and found a puncture on the van. Greenflag were with us within half an hour.
The area was pretty soggy so we were glad of the hardstanding.
Apart from going into Penrith for fuel from Morrisons we didnt do much as the weather was vile.
As staed good overnighter with pleasant owners and plenty to do.
