Hull is approximately 12 miles away and the University approximately 8 miles. The famous Humber Suspension Bridge is approximately 10 miles to the south. The East Yorkshire Coast is 20 miles away at its nearest point with the resorts of Hornsea, Bridlington and Filey easily accessible within an hour's drive. Between Bridlington and Filey are the 330ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) where tens of thousands of sea birds breed during the early summer. There are three Country Houses open to the public within easy reach, namely Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Burton Constable.
