- Our Certificated Location is located at the top of a field behind The Laughing Fish Public House in the friendly Sussex village of Isfield.
- The site is adjacent to The Lavender Line preserved railway, which runs steam and diesel trains every Sunday and on several other days throughout the year.
- The village also has a small farm shop and general store within easy walking distance and the site is close to the Brighton and Hove number 29 bus stop, providing hourly services between Tunbridge Wells and Brighton via the lovely county town of Lewes.
- The pub serves meals every lunchtime and evening, with the exception of Sunday evenings and all day Monday.
- WC available during pub opening hours.
- The site may also be available from November to March but this is dependent upon ground conditions - please check when booking.

Total Disgrace - Needs Help

We arrived at this site which is behind a pub and behind a field! To access the site you have to go up the driveway at the side of the pub. If you have an 8ft wide van you will be struggling. The pub had scaffolding on the side and a sign to say 'Watch Height of Vehicles (Scaffolding). Would have preferred to have been told this had gone up and I could have made alternative arrangements. An angled sleeping policeman as you enter up the drive isn't ideal either. On the opposite side is the pub garden with trees and an arbour - seriously leaving no room for error. We passed by the pub into a beautiful mown field and had to keep going as the CL is behind the hedge at the top. We turned into the site and OMG what a disgrace. The grass (more mud than grass) hadn't been cut it was over 12 inches long. Lots of plastic litter, bottle tops and scorched grass and ash from open fires. I wasn't happy to let the dogs out. We set up (as per our email communication) to use Pitch 4, but no signs to say which pitch was which. Three vans in a circle which looked like they had been there for a while, with open fires and no regard for safety. The electric worked fine. But the site was very dusty, not level generally looked like waste ground. We ate that night at the pub which was lovely, nice food and beer, and found that the site it run by the 'community' We didn't see anyone at all whilst we were there. We had paid for three nights up front as we were staying six. The next day we went to the local farm shop which was lovely, however not happy with the site we packed up and left that afternoon. This site needs some help on how it should be run.

Based on previous reviews we nearly went elsewhere. But we wanted to try a site next to a pub and so took the plunge. You need to contact via the email rather than the phone, the latter is the pub and they don’t manage the site. We sent the money (£15) by bank transfer and confirmed our membership number and that was the extent of the interaction. It’s easy to find and plenty of room for access and to manoeuvre. There are 5 EHUs, 2 fresh water pumps and a black water disposal that looks like a manhole cover into a cesspit. Waste is put into big bin near pub. Between pub and site there’s a large, mown field.
Simple and quiet but everything we wanted. Pub food good and pleasant service. There were 4 Motorhomes here overnight.

Bit of a disappointment really

Arrived here after driving 240 miles from mid France, and a 4 hour ferry crossing, and just wanted to pitch up and crash!.. Fair enough, it was 10pm and dark, but entrance to site not clearly marked and ended up having to reverse out of what looked like a railway siding. Followed given directions to the pitch, but entry is by a very narrow lane which was partially blocked by cars. My van is 7ft 4" wide and there were only inches to spare, made even more difficult by an awkwardly angled speed bump along the lane..
Negotiated that and followed lane up to pitch area. Had originally been told pitch 1, but on arrival, was told to find whatever was left, as 4 other vans there. No real drama, but when we reached the pitches, two of the vans had parked lengthways along the pitches, effectively taking up 3, and a third had drive nose in, with the van just behind it! The fourth van looked more permanent, but was out the way, there were also 5 cars already parked about. It meant that, we had to just 'dump' ourselves in the middle of the space that was left, which wasn't much. It was then a hunt to find the hook up points, eventually discovering that the only free one was behind one of the lengthways parked vans, so I had to knock (there were a group of teenagers in it) to let them know I had go go behind their van to plug in.
One of the other families then arrived, and suggested that I had't parked in a good place, and that my electric hook up probably wouldn't reach! I was at this point too tired to retaliate!
I had originally booked this for two nights, but cancelled the second a few days earlier, I'm very glad we did!
To be fair, this isn't completely the fault of the site, but I do feel that there needed to be a little more control over its use.

Pros...
Nice pub a couple of hundred yards away. Not cheap, but the ale is amazing... Owner makes a good profit on the pub, so pub really shouldn't push the pitch price up to £13 with just electricity.
Great for a central base to walk East Sussex.
Lovely walk possible from site to Barcombe Mills and Anchor Pub.
Never tranquil next to the Lavender Line station (woken one morning by a railwayman rendition of "Oh Carolina")... joy....
But then nothing can ever be perfect...
Cons...
Told that I must take pitch 3 despite other pitches being empty (and later occupied for 2 day stretches despite me being there over a week)...
Wouldn't be an issue, but 3 is overshadowed by the mother of trees that both concerned me a little with its two foot thick boughs high above my little van, and subsequently occasioned a three hour clean of my van on return... Brown stains being sadly permanent...
Pitches too small... the end pitch was sadly occupied later the next day by a very long caravan that pitched far too close, meaning intimacy with the owner's of the caravan that then parked in between... And I never take much space in my meaningless Edina caravan.
Also various works in the field next door did little to heighten the only moderate tranquillity... I was warned of a festival that was coming, but didn't end up staying for that.
So I conclude...
1) Overpriced... an expensive area, but £13 for just electricity???? East Sussex is pricey as goes cl's, but £13????
2) Pitches can be tight.
3) Far from tranquil, far from prettiest.
4) Great for a central walking holiday, but not really close to anything else in particular.
5) Great if you are a steam fan or treal ale buff (I am both)...
Not bad, but not worthy of a return at that price for me... Might be heaven for others

Visited this area to catch up with family and friends.
Couldn't have worked out better.
Entrance is gained through pub car park which to be honest is a 'bit tight' if you are not confident with your outfit but we managed with a large 4 x 4 and 25ft caravan so should be accessible for most.
Once we arrived we popped into the pub to make them aware of our arrival where we were greeted by Andy and Linda who directed us to our pitch and gave us a warm welcome. The pitch was up a short hill (however the 4 x 4 was needed as there had been a fair amount of rain and the track did become a little muddy - can't control the weather!!).
Once we had sorted ourselves out and had our first cuppa we went back to the pub, had a bit of a chat and booked our first table for the week for that evening. We explained that we were expecting quite a few visitors over the course of the week which we were told was not going to be a problem.
Enjoyed a great meal that evening and proceeded to book more through the course of the week to accommodate our visitors. (One mistake we made was we forgot to book for Friday lunchtime and therefore we went elsewhere).
Apart from the weather we were more than happy with our stay and would definitely stay again if in the area.
