Why stay here ...

Our CL is a 1.25 acre site with a tranquil riverside setting on our small working farm. It is almost half a mile from the road. There is a footpath through the farm over the Mill Pool and River Allen,(a privately owned trout stream) through Damerham lakes into woodland and open fields.

The site gently slopes towards the river and has hard standings at each of the 5 electric hook-up points. Adults, children and pets are all welcome. As cattle and sheep graze adjacent fields, dogs must be on a lead at all times and children supervised.

We have toilets and a shower and washroom available for our visitors, all inclusive in the pitch price. Fordingbridge, four miles away is the nearest town, on the edge of the New Forest. It offers Supermarket shopping and pub restaurants.

There is coarse fishing on Hawkhill Carp Lake which has recently been drained cleaned and enlarged. It has been restocked with Tench and large Carp 10 to 15 lbs plus. It is about 500 yards from the CL through the farm across a hay field.

We also offer caravan storage for short or long term periods on the farm in a secure site away from the certified location.

Our price per pitch is ÂŁ18.00 for one van and awning, two persons and one car. We charge ÂŁ1 per extra person, car or visitor. We also charge a ÂŁ1 per dog.

If you are unable to get through to us on the phone, leave a message or email us on harrychrishawkhill@gmail.com We will contact you very promptly.

Ideal location for nature lovers

Hawkhill Mill Farm
We have just returned from a week at this extremely pretty site. We had the pleasure of being the only vehicle for most of the week so enjoyed all the animals visiting and resident. The site is so quiet despite all the animals that seemed to respect visitors and did not wake us. The walk from the site to the local shop takes you past the house where you can appreciate the beauty of the river that flows under it. I fell in love with the location immediately. The 2 toilets (one disabled) and shower (wet room) have been carefully designed with an attractive gated entrance through a trellis arch. The path is fine and the facilities are large and perfectly fine. Remember we are camping in a field which is only open 8 months of the year, not a four star hotel. The shower is free not chargeable that many are now and is very hot. For the location, array of animals, the peace and quiet and the friendly owner I believe it to be a very good CL.

Poor showers and toilets

Hawkhill Mill Farm
Recently stayed here, harry greeted us and showed us our pitch. the pitch was ok, slightly uneven and grass needed cutting. We had a lovely stay as we made the best of things, but we wouldn’t return due to the showers and toilets. They are in desperate need of a tidy up. Green algae on walls, toilet bin not emptied throughout our stay. They are situated in a wooden shed with very uneven slabs heading down to them.

Disappointed

Hawkhill Mill Farm
This site is in a lovely position with a very friendly owner Harry. The pitches are part gravel part mud and very uneven, and no clear outline as it is over grown. The shower and the toilet cubicles are run down with green algae in the shower that was not touched in the week we stayed there along with general cleaning, the communal toilet was cleaned but not the disabled toilet, and the floors are not. We expected rustic but this is really not on, as basic cleaning and maintenance could make a huge difference. During the day all you can hear is the shot blasting from the alloy wheel repair garage 50 yards away. I cannot believe this site is inspected by the club as they would surely not have it advertised. This sounds a harsh review but I think there will be a lot of people disappointed if they come here, we travelled 4 hours and refused to allow these points to spoil our holiday.

Close to Nature

Hawkhill Mill Farm
We have had a very peacefull stay at this site, sitting outside the caravan and then wandering down to watch the ducks swans and other wildlife was very enjoyable. The approach to the site is quite daunting you wonder if you are making a mistake and will have a problem turning around, but then after 150 yards of stone track it reverts to a tarmac drive. Most modern caravans are now all equipped with good facilities so be aware the very rustic shower here my not suit you, albeit the toilets were kept clean but a broom attack on the cobwebs might have helped, and a spray onto the shower room wall might have removed the green algae. The hangers in the shower room were adequate but you could not stop the spray wetting your clothes. The grey waste disposal point was far too high ie three bricks for easy use forcing you to have to lift the container, which can get very heavy if full, a little thought put into a ramp would be welcome. Would possibly return if we knew that the admendments had been attended to.
