Owned by Young Estates & Land Ltd, the fishery is made up of seven lakes, varying in size from 0.4 acres up to 3.3 acres, in a tranquil setting with ample car parking. Seven lakes are stocked with carp (mirror, common and crucian) perch, roach, tench and pike.
Two free children when accompanied by one full paying adult.

A very welcoming CL
The owner couldn't have been more helpful when booking. Very clear and comprehensive printed guidance to the site. These are strange times with Covid precautions in place, and so payment was made online with a prompt confirmation.
Access to the site is really easy. The site itself was well kept with close mown pitches with an electric hook-up between each couple of pitches. Water pressure for fresh water is good and all disposal points are well kept.
Some care is needed in the centre of the field (where the grass is kept longer). I saw two units have some trouble manouvering as the ground is quite soft in places.
I was caught out by not calling at the house on my arrival (in normal times I would always call at the house on arrival, but did not do so as the owner seemed anxious to avoid the unnecessary contact). As a result on the following morning after pitching overnight, when I was the only remaining visitor, I was asked to pack my 'van and move to another pitch as the pitch I had sited on had been promised to another visitor expected to arrive. It was something of an irritation as we had a timed booking to visit a local attraction, and the request to move seemed odd when the remainong four pitches were all vacated that morning. As I said in normal circumstances thus would have been avoided by personal contact.
I have only given three stars for the beauty of the surroundings as this is a quiet site which is bounded on all sides with trees and hedges, and so there are no views outside the site.
I would be happy come again, but would check which pitches were available.
A lovely little CL
We have visited this CL a few times and even during Covid-19 it does not disappoint! Pitches are currently allocated on booking and are marked out with temporary boundaries to maintain social distancing. As in the previous review, cleaning products/sanitisers are available to use. The owners are available if needed but with payment in advance, it makes for a very swift and contact free arrival. Well done and thank you Sarah and Rory for all the effort you have put in to make your lovely site feel safe. We love this site, would definately recommend and will definately be back! :)
Awesome C L
Beautifully kept CL and in the current climate the social distancing is laid out for you including sanitizer at the elsan and the water point. We stayed here for 11 days and 4 days with family and we will definately be staying here again. Rory and Sarah were lovely. Any negative comments in the earlier reviews can be ignored in our view as there is no foundation for them. Thank you guys
A lovely weekend at Starter Gate Farm 31May-02Jun 19
Our first stay at this peaceful site. We had done a drive round the previous weekend to find it (as we were staying locally elsewhere) and its only 5 or so minutes drive from the A32 (between Alton & West Meon). Phone booking was easy and the owner was relaxed about arrival and departure times which makes for a relaxing weekend.
It's a lovely L-shaped field round the edge of a small field of sheep (and lambs when we were there) with enough electric hook ups to have 5 vans spread out.
The owner popped by to say hello when we setup and saw her and her husband over the weekend at various times (both are very friendly).
We were visited by several of their chickens (very friendly and are happy to walk right up to you) and also got to meet their lovely Westie dog.
Its a dog friendly site (we had our two lurchers) and there are plenty of footpaths that can be accessed just a few minutes walk from the site (the road its on is a minor country road so very quiet (but not far too tow along - its only a few 100 yards back to the 2 lane B-road then on to A32)).
The site gives easy access to local towns/villages and sites (Alton, Petersfield, Winchester, West Meo, Droxford, Wickham etc) and then onwards to the coast.
Facilities were fine (electric, separate drinking water tap and toilet emptying point and tap) and great value for £10 a night.
And did we mention it was quiet....lots of bird song and even the sound of steam train whistles heard from the Watercress Line at Ropley
Overall very glad we took the trouble to find and go to the site and will definitely be going back.

Peaceful countryside retreat ...
Love this site! We store our caravan not too far away so wanted a CL that we could just pop to for weekends away without travelling too far. This fits the bill perfectly. Welcoming and friendly owners who we only saw to collect the fee on arrival but were available if needed. Positioned down a country lane amongst fields, so you really do feel like you're miles away from anywhere, yet in reality only a few miles to local amenities. L-sized field with good pitch sizes, sheep in adjoining fenced in area which our son loved! Friendly visiting hen and basic required amenities. What more could you want for £10 per night, that is dog and children friendly? Would definately recommend and will definately be back. Thank you Sarah and family for this gem of a site :o)
