Why stay here ...

This site has changed ownership and recently re-opened.  Toilet and laundry facilities have been revamped and are well looked after.  You have the choice of grass or hardstanding pitches all with electrical-hook ups available.  We are looking forward to welcoming you.

Nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty and in an area of specific scientific interest, The Spinney sits within 50 meters of the Royal Military Canal, with a wealth of wildlife a few steps away. You can enjoy fishing, ambling along one of the many footpaths, or boating and kayaking. Surrounded by farmland we have amazing uninterrupted views of the Kent countryside. If you are into nature and the great outdoors, this is the place for you. We are right on the National Cycle network, leading through the Romney Marsh and down to the coast.

The Royal Military Canal is steeped in history, and just a short walk away you will find pillboxes dotted along the canal. As you wander along the Canal, by bearing left from the campsite, your route will take you to the small village of Bonnington, with its beautiful church sitting just off the bank. Port Lympne Zoo is approximately 3 miles from the campsite which you will be able to see in the distance, and there is also the popular seaside town of Dymchurch around 3 miles away. Dymchurch is home to many amusements, the best homemade ice cream at Ameretos I have ever tasted, fish and chips and of course wonderful seafood. From here, you can follow the coast in either direction to either New Romney or Folkestone.

Noel Coward used to only live a few houses away from the campsite and we have a photo of him sitting outside of our house along the canal, painting a picture of the Canal at Giggers Bridge.

Latest departure time is 11am and arrivals from 12 noon. We are sorry but we do not offer car charging facilities on site.

Members are welcome to visit the site in advance of a booking but by arrangement only please.

Fabulous well kept spacious cl with a warm welcome

The Spinney
Have just had a 3 night stay here, and trust me it wasn’t long enough and we will be back. The site is very spacious and well kept. Beautiful views and local walks. Both Sarah and her handyman Danny were very welcoming and helpful during our stay, recommending places of interest, great places to eat, nearby walks, local knowledge etc etc. Loved the little toilet, washing machine and tumble drying area, all very handy and well maintained. Loved the fact that it had a bin set aside for dog mess, all too often we have to take it out with us in the car to dispose of. Site is next to a road but it wasn’t overly busy so therefore it wasn’t noisy. We would highly recommend this lovely site and have already told some friends to try it. 100% we will be back as we didn’t get to see or do half the things that were recommended to us. One last thing a trip out to the cliff top cafe at Capel Le Ferne is a must, food and service is great but the views are amazing, thanks Danny for the recommendation. Paul and Alison from Essex

Lovely Site, Warm Welcome!

The Spinney
Stayed for 7 nights in August 2023. We originally booked for just 4, but decided - upon arrival - to book for longer as it was so beautiful. Received the warmest of welcomes, with advice on how to pitch, use of excellent facilities, etc. Nothing was too much trouble for Danny, the gardener - who was acting as site host while the owners were away. He was our hive of information regarding places to visit and the best places to eat and we also enjoyed chatting with him about the local wildlife. We even got to enjoy some delicious spare tomatoes and cucumbers - what a treat! TV reception was ok here & internet connection very good. O2 and EE mobile phone signals good, too. We towed a small car from our motorhome, so were in and out of the site quite a bit during our stay; whenever Danny was around, he would always open the gate for us and wish us a good time. Can thoroughly recommend this site for a feel-good holiday. Relax, unwind and Enjoy!!

Beautiful

The Spinney
Just stayed here for 4 nights and it was wonderful. Nice spacious pitches and very flat so easy to set up. Lovely owners who were very helpful and recommended some nice places to eat. Kids loved the swing and the resident cat Sun dance who was amazing with kids. Overall we had a wonderful holiday and hope to come back. Just be careful on the roads near to the site as they can be tight.

Lovely site

The Spinney
Just returned from 3 nights on this lovely CL. It is very well maintained with a very good toilet and watching machine block. It is peaceful and well located for exploring the coast. We didn't meet the owner but Daniel the handyman/warden was a friendly and well informed representative. It was our 5 year old grandsons first trip away with nanny and grandad and he loved the experience. We will be back.

Spent two nights at this lovely peaceful site. Facilities very clean and well thought out. Dan, the gardener, knows lots about the area and we enjoyed chats with him about the animals, birds and fauna. It made us smile to see the wild ducks respond to his calling, and Miss Sunshine his cat. If you visit the toad chorus along the canal has to be heard to be believed! We enjoyed the walking along the canal, but there are lots of different walks in the area but we did gentle walks, and came across Paul O’Grady’s grave in a little isolated church.
