Why stay here ...

This site has changed ownership and recently re-opened.  Toilet and laundry facilities have been revamped and are well looked after.  You have the choice of grass or hardstanding pitches all with electrical-hook ups available.  We are looking forward to welcoming you.

Nestled in an area of outstanding natural beauty and in an area of specific scientific interest, The Spinney sits within 50 meters of the Royal Military Canal, with a wealth of wildlife a few steps away. You can enjoy fishing, ambling along one of the many footpaths, or boating and kayaking. Surrounded by farmland we have amazing uninterrupted views of the Kent countryside. If you are into nature and the great outdoors, this is the place for you. We are right on the National Cycle network, leading through the Romney Marsh and down to the coast.

The Royal Military Canal is steeped in history, and just a short walk away you will find pillboxes dotted along the canal. As you wander along the Canal, by bearing left from the campsite, your route will take you to the small village of Bonnington, with its beautiful church sitting just off the bank. Port Lympne Zoo is approximately 3 miles from the campsite which you will be able to see in the distance, and there is also the popular seaside town of Dymchurch around 3 miles away. Dymchurch is home to many amusements, the best homemade ice cream at Ameretos I have ever tasted, fish and chips and of course wonderful seafood. From here, you can follow the coast in either direction to either New Romney or Folkestone.

Noel Coward used to only live a few houses away from the campsite and we have a photo of him sitting outside of our house along the canal, painting a picture of the Canal at Giggers Bridge.

We are sorry but we do not offer car charging facilities on site.

Super CL

We stayed on this CL for 9 nights mid September on our first outing since Covid19 hit the world and we found the site to be exactly what it said on the tin ! A warm but not overdone welcome from Sarah (CL owner), her Father, son and dogs and the rest of her team of helpers. Covid protocols all sorted, well laid out site and plenty of room per pitch. Superb walks along the Military Canal with an abundance of wildlife. Not far from Daleacres Club site but a whole lot quieter and easier on the wallet ! All in all a great stay and a well looked after site... looks like we will revisit in the future... thanks again Sarah.

Brilliant CL between the Marsh and the Saxon Shore

This is a lovely flat sheltered site with great views over to Lympne on the north edge of the Marsh. Great for cycling, walking and birds, and appreciating the landscape. Spotless toilet and washing up and laundry facilities too. Helpful owners and campsite manager. Highly recommend

Spacious level site close to the Military Canal, handy for Hythe, the coast and Light Railway

A very well kept site, with easy access from a quiet road, large, level grass field with pitches sheltered by a thick hedge plus 1 - 2 hard standings handy for the modern toilet / laundry block. Situated on the very edge of the coastal plain, surrounded on three sides by farmland with the MIlitary Canal and North Downs close by, about 3 miles from the coast, 4 miles from Hythe with its seafront and a good range of shops. Plenty to explore in the area including Aspinall's Zoo and the Hythe - Dimchurch steam railway with miles and miles of easy off road cycling along the sea wall towards Folkstone. Made very welcome by the new owners.

One of our favourite sites

Being new to owning a caravan and towing (though not to campervanning), we chose this site for our first time away because a) it was close to home just in case we'd forgotten something and b) we knew the roads to and from the site would provide good experience from a towing point of view. Well thankfully we didn't forget anything essential, and while the roads might only be of concern to a newbie caravan-tower like I was, they didn't cause any concern either - even the turning into the site didn't cause any problems - so it was a good choice in that respect. As our first stay there was in December 2017, the field would have been too wet and soft for us so we used the hardstanding next to the washroom. The site itself was perfect for us, proving to be reasonably sheltered from the wind blowing across the marsh and beautifully quiet - with only the occasional car or cycle riders passing. The owners are good, friendly people and not intrusive at all, the washroom is more than adequate (including a washing machine and tumble dryer) and has always been clean during our stays. We like this site so much we've been there three times since - and hope to be visiting again very soon.

Perfect location for the Downs & more

We stayed mid March for two weeks. Great owners very helpful and Knowledgable of the area. Laundry and Toilets were brilliant. Location perfect if you wanted an overnighter before catching a ferry to the continent. Great walks in the area on the Downs. Wildlife all over the Marshes. We enjoyed our stay.
