Fakenham Certificated Locations

A traditional English market town in Norfolk, Fakenham has been a shopping destination since its market charter was granted in 1250.

These days, the weekly Thursday market continues to be a popular event, drawing in crowds and bringing the town to life. There's also a market on Saturday mornings - the farmers' market at Market Place and a makers' market at the parish church.

Fakenham's Museum of Gas and Local History is located at the town's former gasworks, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, and provides loads of information about the local cultural, social and industrial heritage.

Nearby Holkham Hall is a stunning Palladian-style mansion, that was built in the 18th century. Spend some time exploring the ornately decorated rooms and be sure to explore the grounds too. There's a landscaped park, farming exhibition, gallery, cafes and shops.
