Lovely site- beautiful layout, peaceful, lots of birds, loads of space and easy to get into Ludlow. We cycled but can walk. Great walks from site. Ludlow a lovely town. Owners pleasant and helpful. Now £20 a night, EHU and water by pitch. Good bins and recycling. Waste water into bushes. Highly recommend.

Great CL Site

We had a three night stay at this fabulous CL in April. Easy to find with good access to the site. Pleasant and helpful host. Wonderful views and very peaceful. 15 minute walk into Ludlow. Would definitely stay here again if we return to area and would recommend to others looking for a well maintained, quiet and beautiful place near Ludlow.

Lovely!

We have just spent a week here. Had a lovely pitch at the top of the site with lovely views. The grass for the pitches and 'driveways' is kept nice and short. The owners were in the process of putting in more water and EHU points which would make it even better.

What a wonderful site!

We have just returned from 3 nights here and will definitely be going back in the near future. It has everything we wanted: beautifully mown camping pitches, loads of space, excellent walks from the site and a 20 minutes walk into Ludlow. Having a largish motor home and two lively dogs we need everything on our doorstep, so when we pitch-up and have put up our 'garden' for the dogs, we stay put and will be walking from the site. The walking was wonderful, Forest and trails, hills and valleys, streams and views. Dogs loved it as all off lead. The walk to Ludlow is along a footpath then the main road. The pavement isn't the widest but with COVID and social distancing it was still ok. Ludlow is beautiful and although some of the business were still closed, there were loads of places open to eat and drink. The site is very nicely looked after. Elizabeth, the owner is very friendly and meets you on arrival and takes you to your pitch. The pitches are very private and large. You have your own tap, though this this isn't necessarily right by your pitch and the recycling is very organised. We couldn't hear any traffic noise, the TV reception was good and so was our phone signal. It was very COVID safe, which was reassuring as this was our first outing this summer so a little bit tentative. We will be back!

Wonderful weekend at Hucks Barn

Visited here the third weekend of September. Great camp site and great to meet the owner, Liz Davies. She lives in the farm house at the top of the track leading to the site, entrance to campsite on left. Call in before you set up. Liz took us round on foot, and showed us to our spot. The campsite is in an old orchard, still some apple trees dotted around. There are a number of hard standing spots that you get to by driving over grass, might be a problem in the wet, but we were fine. All the spots are well spaced, with apple trees in between, in fact it is quite idillic. Probably the best camp site we have been to, we loved it. At the back of the site is the old Leominster-Ludlow coach road that went out of use in 1756 when the turn Pike was opened (now the B4361). There is a “kissing gate” at the back of the site, turn right to Ludlow, left to Mortimer’s Forest (the Mortimers were Marcher Lords back in medieval times so I guess the forest is named after them). We turned left. You can do a triangular Walk through the woods and back to the camp site, takes us about an hour. You can also do a round-about walk to Ludlow through the forest (Evens wood), its great meandering through the trees, eventually you get to a road that takes you into Ludlow, walk to the view point and then head down to the River Teme through the woods rather than following the road. Good view of the castle from the viewpoint. Head over the bridge and up to the castle. The walk took us about an hour-and-a-half. Ludlow centre is extraordinarily picturesque, great castle, lots of nice pubs. To sample a pint of Boiling Well, brewed by Ludlow Brewery, go to the Church Inn near St Laurence Church. To get back, go down broad street, through the only remaining medieval gate, the Broad Gate (the Wheatsheaf pub, butting up against the gate, looks nice), over the river and back to the camp site along the B4361 till you pick up the old coach road again on the right; 20 minutes. A good trip out is to Stokesay Castle 15 minutes drive way, Stokesay is more of a fortified manner house than a castle but well worth a visit. We had a great weekend.
