Why stay here ...

Broughton Hall CL is a peaceful site set in 1.5 acres of well mown grass, along 2 sides of a moated farmhouse and amongst a few old fruit trees. It is on a working family farm with extensive walks from the site.

It is situated in Mid-Suffolk just off the A140 (Ipswich to Norwich) and five minutes from the A14 making it a very central point for touring Suffolk and neighbouring counties.

The site is open all year round with very warm toilet and shower facilities, 2 pitches with ‘re-enforced’ grass and a hard standing lay-by area for extreme conditions. Everyone has space for an awning, one car and can be well away from other vans. We pride ourselves on our lawn and so the site has 9 EHU, with 10amps, so that every pitch has time to recover between visitors. Coarse fishing is available in the moat with Rudd, Tench and a few Carp.

Wi-fi is free to everyone on site.

On site we have a small information caravan – 1970 Fisher Holivan - with up-to-date leaflets of places to visit in the area as well as menus from local inns and take-aways. There are Defra conservation walk maps of the area to guide you around the farm. There is also a small library of books to read and keep and a selection of Classic Caravan information to look at. We produce our own ‘Welcome’ leaflet with recommended inns, shops, local attractions and guidance for using the site.

We are about 30 miles from the major seaside resorts of Southwold, Aldeburgh and Felixstowe with Lowestoft 40 miles away. Going inland we are 30 minutes from the cathedral town of Bury St. Edmunds, with it wonderful selection of shops and the tranquil Abbey Gardens also 40 minutes from the medieval wool towns of Lavenham and Long Melford.

The site fees are £15 a night with no hidden extras!

Lovely site

Stayed here for six nights in May 2018. Enjoyed ourselves tremendously; access is good (coming from the A140, turn right into the lane about 50 yards after the Stonham Aspal sign) and easy drive into the field which is pretty much flat, hardly any levelling needed. We knew the area having stayed at another CL in the village before. The field is large so there is space in abundance and peaceful (though you can sometimes hear a little traffic from the road through the village, depending on which pitch you have), and lots of birdlife. We were greeted by Sam and children shortly after arriving who explained where everything was, and gave us a a very useful leaflet about the site and surrounding area. Loo and shower are good; chemical disposal point one of the easiest I've used. Met a fellow caravanner who had not stayed on a CL before who was very impressed. Great for a relaxing and restorative stay - highly recommended.

Winter warmer

Picked the right weekend to visit this lovely CL before the Beast from the East arrived! A beautifully situated site which was easy to find and access about 1.5 miles off the A140 . We were told after a very friendly welcome that we could pitch anywhere and advised that a tractor was available if required for our departure. The ground even though it was on grass and surrounded by a moat and ditches was fairly firm and we had no problem on departure. We had views over towards the moated farmhouse and the church. The wc and shower are housed at the back of the farmhouse and although old were kept warm and clean. The free wi fi was an added bonus and worked well. The temperature got chillier outside over the weekend but we were warm and cosy in the caravan. There are no facilities in the village but there is a village store at Stonham barns about a mile away and the pretty village of Debenham approx 4 miles has local independent shops and a co op store. We will certainly return to this CL we had a lovely time.

Great peaceful relaxing weekend

Just had a great weekend stay at Broughton Hall Farm, a Caravan and Motorhome Club CL site in Stonham Aspal, Suffolk. The site is located at the rear of the Farm House and has well maintained grass pitches with each on having electric hookup. Water and CDP are also in easy reach. The site is in the heart of the village and only 1 mile from Stonham Barns, which has a mix of Shops, Garden Centre, Owl Sanctuary and cafe, A great place to spend a few hours. Even though we went in the middle of November the ground was well draining and we had no issues with access on and off site. The track from the main road to the site is tarmac and well signed. The site also has good wi-fi.

Lovely Peaceful Site

Stayed for four nights in July, primarily to do some fishing. Lovely layout of pitches with plenty of room for awning. Very good shower and loo facilities, always clean and fresh. Sadly they have had a visit from an Otter which had depleted all the large fish so the only sport to be had was tackling giant 2oz Rudd from the Moat. Luckily Creeting Lakes are only 10 mins away where excellent fishing is to be found. The nearest pub,The Magpies is about a mile away along a field-side footpath. An interesting experience to say the least. Its run by Latvians who have decorated the interior in a very bordello style and with very loud Latvian disco music blasting out at 6.00pm. So maybe not to everyones taste! Overall a lovely location and site and I will definitely be returning.

Peaceful site

Stayed here recently for 9 nights. A wonderful site, full of so much birdlife, we had a woodpecker about 10 feet from the van. Very peaceful at all times, with very large pitches for everyone. Liz and Peter were off on a holiday to Shetland just after we arrived but a board gave telephone numbers in case there was any mishaps. Will definitely go back
