Why stay here ...

Seven Spar Farm is situated in beautiful rural Suffolk, roughly midway between Woodbridge and Framlingham. There is easy access from the A12 and the coast and the heathlands are all within easy reach, as are an assortment of interesting places to visit. Some of the most notable would include Easton Farm Park, Framlingham Castle, Sutton Hoo, Suffolk Punch Trust, Snape, Maltings and RSPB Minsmere which are all within a short drive. The site is at the end of a "No Through Road" which means that there is no passing traffic, and allows for a peaceful setting with plenty of walks away from main roads.

Seven Spar, which only stands in 10 acres, in common with hundreds of farms across the country became uneconomic as an agricultural unit, hence the change of use for both land and buildings. My wife Gill and I purchased the farm in 1974 and have loved the spot so much that we are still here today. We initially operated as a pig farm with 100 sows producing piglets and in 2003 we added geese to the mix and since 2000 had 750 pigs and 1000 geese. From 1980 I have had a full time job in the allied industries and Gill has kept the livestock side going with help on weekends and evening. As we both got older, the physical work became more difficult, and in 2012 when I was 70 and Gill was 69 we decided to stop.

Initially we let the buildings for pig production and kept the geese but this only lasted 2 years. In January 2017 we closed everything down and made various alterations to the building, including the addition of a porta cabin toilet block which has 2 unisex and 1 disabled toilets, and more recently a shower unit, which we hope will be a welcome facility for those of you using the site.

On the site we have 5 of the latest electric hook ups which have their own LED lights, and are individually tripped, together with a waste and toilet emptying bay. There is a water supply on site, both for drinking and for rinsing, and a reception hut which houses the electrical distribution and tourist information leaflets. This also has power points for phone charging. A battery charger is available in our service hut in the farm yard. We have made every effort to provide the facilities which will make your stay enjoyable and memorable. We would welcome any feedback and suggestion you may have.

Long Grass

Seven Spar Farm
This is a nice CL, however on our visit, the grass had not been cut and was very long. Therefore, when getting water or emptying the toilet cassette, located on the other side of the site you got soaked. The long grass also hid other issues, like the large holes or furrows which were not visible and quite dangerous. There is not a proper Elsan point on site, it’s an old toilet, connected to a septic tank. Lift the seat to use!! Not very pleasant. The 2 hard standings were quite different as well, resembling a ploughed field made of hard core. Nobody present when we arrived, and so we were left to figure things out for ourselves, as we have experienced on other CL’s. Walks from the site were fairly good, but again we had to figure this out for ourselves, as the information in the site information shed was limited and was more for walks which you had to drive to. We had a look at the shared toilet/shower facilities, but decided that we would rather use our own, they didn’t look too good. Whilst Mike is welcoming friendly guy, maybe he should get a bit of help with pitches.

Friendly and welcoming

Seven Spar Farm
Owner is friendly, welcoming and very helpful even when we needed assistance with a dud battery. The site is a good size and the toilets and shower of a usual CL standard (short walk to the farmyard). Water, waste emptying and information hut were on site. Also, very sheltered site and very quiet when nearby farms are not cutting wheat or grass. Plenty of wildlife and good footpaths. Unfortunately, nearby Charsfield no longer has a pub or shop, but further afield is the excellent Chequers Inn at Kettleburgh and the White Horse at Easton. Overall, a wonderful 9 days away. Recommended.

A warm welcome

Seven Spar Farm
We booked this site so that we would be near a wedding that we were attending. We had a long journey and Mike could not have been more welcoming, guiding us in and helping us sort ourselves out. The site is beautifully kept and set in tranquil countryside in a picturesque, rural area. We definitely plan to return.

Great site, perfect location

Seven Spar Farm
A quiet field just beyond the farmhouse and paddock with views across fields and huge skies. Friendly owner and good, clean facilities. Eggs and local honey available to buy. On the No.1 cycle route, which we made good use of with trips to Framlingham, Sutton Hoo and the coast. Stayed 4 nights. Would have happily stayed longer. Hope to return soon.

Wonderfully peaceful site!!

Seven Spar Farm
Having just spent the bank holiday weekend on this site, my husband, 2 dogs and I, wished we were staying for longer! It is the most peaceful, relaxing site we have ever stayed on. The field and all facilities are very well kept. There is plenty of room between pitches and the site leads out to lots of amazing countryside walks. The area is close to lots of great places to visit ie Sutton Hoo, Woodbridge and Framlingham. Mr & Mrs Lloyds are very welcoming and friendly, with lots of information about the area and their farm. They really are a fascinating couple! We will definitely be returning here, staying longer and doing many more wonderful walks.
