Caravan Club Review

Swallow Beck
Had a really enjoyable stay at Swallow Beck for six nights in early April 2024, the owners Pam and Paul were very friendly and welcoming. After the wettest March in years the ground was pretty wet underfoot on the days that it rained, but drained very quickly. The site is very close to Chichester with the town centre just a mile or so away, so it’s very easy to find things to do. We can recommend the café at Goodwood aerodrome and motor circuit which is just half a mile away. You will definitely see plenty of light aircraft take off from the site including the occasional Spitfire. Tangmere Aviation Museum is also well worth a visit or it’s just a short drive of about 30 minutes to Portsmouth. Access is easy, providing you go past the site and turn round at the roundabout if approaching from the North, don't try to make a left hand turn into the site. There are two gates at the entrance, the owners open the outer gates when expecting arrivals so be sure to book or phone ahead so that you can pull in off the road. As usual I have made a video of the site which can describe it far better than I can in words. https://youtu.be/NlsJhflEWkM

Perfect Site for Goodwood Race Track and the Spitfire Experience.

Swallow Beck
We cannot recommend Swallow Beck enough. The location is utterly perfect for all the events at Goodwood, a visit to the West Sussex jewel of the City of Chichester as well as the fantastic beaches of Wittering. But in our case it’s THE location to take a flight in a Spitfire Warbird being just a mile away. Swallow Beck is a perfect base, just 5 level plots on this CL with easy access to water and all the essentials. Pam and the team keep it pristine and must be the envy of many sites. Wildlife in abundance with beautiful and graceful Buzzards constantly circling above as well as Pam’s own wonderful Connemara Ponies and foals, just delightful. We cannot recommend this CL highly enough, very easy to reach off the A27, security is one of the best we have experienced and a very warm welcome awaits.

Excellent base and quality |CL

Swallow Beck
We stayed here in order to check out for future events at Goodwood. The owners were very helpful and friendly. It was as described. Basic but quality facilities but that is the appeal of a CL for us. Excellent directions and information after booking was confirmed. Can recommend the Crown and Anchor pub at Dell Quay, Chichester. Excellent location for Goodwood events and Weald and Downland Museum.

Great for Goodwood

Swallow Beck
We stayed at Swallow Beck CL for 2 nights whilst attending the horse racing at Goodwood & also visiting the motor circuit. It is ideally placed for any events held at Goodwood - we cycled to both locations easily & also into Chichester. I cannot fault this new CL - the access is easy, the site is level & the pitches are clearly defined. Security is excellent. The slight noise from aircraft using nearby Goodwood aerodrome didn’t bother us & indeed gave us great entertainment identifying the planes! Our hosts Pam & Paul were very welcoming & had many useful tips about the local area. Indeed their welcome leaflet is one of the best I have seen. Although there is currently no EHU it is something they are planning to install in the future. I have already booked my next stay!

Goodwood race week

Swallow Beck
We had a wonderful stay. Pam came over to welcome us when we arrived and explained where things were around the site and in the local area. The camping filed is spacious and even though the pitches are all located in one corner of the field, they are well spaced out. You can see the photo of our 2 motor homes pitched beside each other, but even then there was a good 3 meters between the two awnings. Unfortunately due to the drought the grass was very dry and hard. There is a footpath opposite the site which goes up into the South Downs National Park and makes a nice walk through Lavant to West Dean (with a pub!).
