Nestled in the heart of nature, Barskeoch Wood is an ideal stop off on your journey through Scotland or a base from which to explore the region. The site is open all year round and is strictly only for members of the Caravan and Motorhome club.
NB! The A713 can be busy at certain times of the day.
The site nestles adjacent to Earlstoun Loch and a medium walk away from Saint John's Town of Darly either via the A713 or the Southern Uplands Way, both routes taking around 35 minutes on foot. Dalry is also only a 5 minute drive and offers a number of grocery shops, petrol station a post office and two pubs with great food!
Fishing is available at Casfad Loch and the River Ken with Day Licences available from Wrights Shop in Dalry. Although the site is located adjacent to Earlstoun Loch fishing is not permitted for visitors. We can however arrange transport to and from Casfad and the River Ken for a small donation at your request.
A 25-minute drive south from Barskeoch Wood, takes you to Castle Douglas that offers a range of shops, restaurants, and attractions for you to explore during your stay. Alternatively if you travel 25 minutes west you will find Newton Stewart with a range of shops and and attractions that you may wish to visit .
Just a 15-minute drive away, takes you to the heart of the Galloway Forest Park with various attractions set amongst the most beautiful landscapes of hills, Forests and Lochs. An entrance to the Park is also a 16 minute walk from the site.
Motorhome only site. No caravans or units over 6 meters in length without prior arrangement as we are a small site and need to ensure guests have space and easy access to pitches.
Small/Medium Dogs are allowed on site but at present no children.
There is a shower and toilet on site and all pitches have EHU available (see pricing).
The shower and toilet cabin are heated from 06:00 to 009:00 and 17:00 to 20:00 each day
Chemical waste and drive in Grey water waste is also on site.
From 2027 walks through the wood will be available together with a couple of designated picnic areas.
