Why stay here ...

Following extensive flooding over the weekend 7-8 October, our Maragowan Club Campsite was evacuated and closed. The site was due to close at the end of the season on 6 November but unfortunately due to the residual damage, and ongoing adverse weather forecasts, the difficult decision has been taken for the site to remain closed until the beginning of the 2024 season.
We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause, however our Clachan site, which is only 1 mile North East on A287, remains open until 30 October and there are a number of CLs nearby.

Price Drop - we've lowered our prices by up to 8% at Maragowan Club Campsite on selected dates in 2024 (price reductions already applied). Plus, book four nights or more on any single 2024 stay at this site by 31 December 2023 and save an extra 10% per night with our 2024 Getaways offer. Find out more at camc.com/ukoffers.^

Maragowan Club Campsite is a picturesque family holiday location nestled on the bank of the River Lochay in Scotland. The caravan park is within comfortable walking distance of the quaint little holiday town of Killin where you can idle the time away in the various shops and restaurants.

Maragowan Club Campsite includes a well-equipped facility for babies and toddlers under 4 years old where parents can tend to the little ones in comfort. It also puts you within easy reach of a wealth of fun outdoor activities. There is a 9-hole golf course and trout fishing is permitted in the river - just see the Site Staff during office hours to obtain a permit. Cycling routes, including the National Cycle Route 7 and the Rob Roy Way, are in close proximity and mountain bikes can be hired in the village of Killin. Kayaking, hill walking and mountaineering can all be undertaken from the caravan site. Walking can be enjoyed by all abilities, with numerous Munros, Corbetts and pleasant hill walks within a few miles of the site. For a step back in time with scenic beauty, visit Loch Katrine and enjoy a Sir Walter Scott steamer cruise. For the more adventurous, there are water sports centres close by at Lochearnhead and Kenmore on Loch Tay, where small boats can be launched into the loch. Scenic drives up the Glens where local wildlife abounds are also not to be missed when visiting this idyllic caravan site. A butcher's van visits the site every Friday afternoon. Local offers include 10% discounts on meals at some restaurants in the village, ask the site staff for more details.

I can’t believe some of the negative reviews!

Maragowan Club Campsite
Don’t be put off by the negative reviews. This is a lovely site in a great location for cycling, walking, more strenuous hiking, paddle boarding or kayaking with out having to drive. The site is very well kept by the friendly courteous staff. The Falls of Dochart Inn served a decent pint and good food, and there is a well stocked Co-op within a 10 minute walk of the site. Whilst it’s no reflection on the site or the staff, CMC could do with spending some money on upgrading the dated facilities block.

Lovely, peaceful and scenery amazing.

Maragowan Club Campsite
Loved it and even the hill walk we managed was lovely too. Had lunch out at the bistro on the bridge in town (fab). Beer and fish & chips from hotel in evening as the chippy van was shut🤔. Loved the site and the walks around the campsite loch.

Very busy site with not a lot of room and very dated facilities

Maragowan Club Campsite
Although the site managers were great and very helpful, we would not visit here again. It was very busy and our pitch was much smaller than the usual Caravan Club pitches - we could only just squeeze our Landrover in beside the caravan and were overlooked on both sides by other people. So not much privacy. Also no Wi-Fi! No dog walk either very unusually - you had to walk along a busy road until you came to a side road. The location was excellent however and I’m sure during less busy times it would be wonderful to have a pitch overlooking the river but unfortunately the lack of pitches left (even though we’d booked months ago) meant we were beside the road and next to the bins! It really was like pitching in a car park. Such a shame, we’d been looking forward to our stay for ages. The toilet block was clean but very dated and badly in need of a makeover.

Excellent site spoilt by the failure to improve facilities.

Maragowan Club Campsite
We have stayed at this site twice in the past and love its location. The facilities were quite dated when we first went and now, some years later, nothing has been done to improve them. We talked to the site staff in the past about putting in a proper path to the toilet block from the sites on the shoreside. Easy to do and not too expensive, but still left as a muddy track when it rains. Furthermore, whose idea is it we wonder to cut the grass and not collect the clippings? They get into the caravans and toilet block and make a right old mess. It seems that the site is in such a prime position and such a money-spinner that the club doesn't need to keep the facilities up to date. This is no criticism of the staff, or cleanliness, but of the powers that be who seem to be taking advantage of members.

One of our favourite sites

Maragowan Club Campsite
Second visit to this fantastic site. Peaceful site by the River Tay and Loch Tay. The wardens are friendly and helpful. As others have said the toilet/shower block could do with refurbishment, however it is kept spotlessly clean. There is plenty to do and see nearby. Pub, cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance...also the very good Fish and Chip van. Lots of lovely walks and cycling routes. My husband loves the free fishing on site on the River Tay. I do think wifi on site should be free as many of the private sites are supplying free wifi and are less expensive than this site.
