Membership fees and request by Club to continue

Today I received an email as most likely all club members have regarding the Membership Fees and the request that we consider continuning membership.

I/we support that request and for the following reasons:

I/we have been members for a few years now, we have enjoyed the membership, the sites and facilities along with the website and whilst we haven't always agreed with some of the site policies we have continued our membership.

These are tough times for us all and on so many different levels and whilst I do understand that it is a question of prioritising where finances are concerned (same for us) we feel that the club has benefited us greatly over the term of our membership, we're kind of proud to be a part of it.

Businesses like individuals will be hard pressed in the months to come, the Club did not get to where it is now by shrinking from it's responsibilities, neither did it get there by complacency, it got there by virtue of it's management making good decisions, by taking action when it needed to and importantly because of it's loyal members, combine the two and you can see why it's a club to stay with and continue to stay with.

In short, for us personally we will continue to pay our membership/remain a member, we won't be asking for refunds, reductions or extensions , we feel that the best support we can give the club right now is to continue our subscription throughout this terrible situation we all find ourselves in.

Of course, how we proceed won't be everyones cup of tea but in some sense diversity can add cohesion. Please keep in mind that whilst our stance may not be yours, it is ours and we like you have the ability to choose which way we're going.

We hope to holiday later in the year by taking up our annual booking, but if we are unable to because we're still in quarantine, well we can't, nothing we can do about it, it's 'life' ....which right now seems more precious than ever.

TW,

The First Minister was asked today by a journalist why Event Organisers were selling tickets for Music Festivals/Gigs for later this year. She replied with an unequivocal 'nobody should expect any form of large gathering of groups of people for this year'. She acknowledged that it was easier to say what could not happen [as of now] rather than speculate on what might happen and when.

There is also the CAMC members' reluctance, expressed in another thread, of 'not in a rush to be first one to travel [sic] to a site'. We can't expect the Club to cover this 'period of reluctance'. There are so many variables and uncertainties that it's perhaps easiest for the Club to just hope that Members will renew their membership.

My position remains that my priority continues to be emerging unscathed so that I will have the choice on whether to renew. I doubt that the Club will want to write to me c/o a Box Number sealed

We were discussing C&CC’s extension to membership, Steve, rather than CAMC's (in)actions in that direction.

Are you suggesting that CAMC is offering the cut price vouchers as a way of ensuring members renew their membership? If so, you have a point.

TW,

No, I was picking up on the uncertainty that you referred to and added what the First Minister said about 'Don't plan for any return to large gatherings this year' as an example of what won't/is highly unlikely to happen, based on developments to date.  She also reiterated that there needs to be an awareness of the possibility of reintroducing restrictions if there is any increase in the infection or death rate; if nothing else, that recognises the inability to set firm dates for the return to the new normality, whatever that might be.

At least it has stopped her going on about independence.

If you look back at 'mentions of independence', the majority have been made another political party connected to the current Government in Westminster. But that ruins the chance to have a dig at the First Minister. Pathetic and bigoted. And ill informed.

Personally, though not having a vote here, despite being a taxpayer since 1970, I think Nicola is doing OK meantime, but I too wish she would stop going on about independence.  She has not done it lately, but her record is not good!

Kjell,

Independence is the Party's raison d'etre, so you would rather expect her to promote it!

The clue is in the party's name 😀

Indeed, but it is doubtful that the majority of her "subjects" wish independence.

The last vote was a  NO, and was supposed to be a once in  lifetime vote.

Most seem to think she should "get on with the day job", which she is at the moment.  But previously she has not IMO.

Right now IMO it is even more important that we all stick together.

Right now it is best to leave the political comments and return to the membership fees, unless its run its course and you want it closing.foot-in-mouth
