David which side do you stick the French and German stickers?

UK offside. I am not sure about the French sticker but for many years having had an Umwelt Plackette the instructions for that was on the German nearside so I decided to just put the French one above it.

Just received a second email from them today, in French of course, but at least it was a quick reply. Whilst the reply was very brief and did not explain why my vehicle was classed as a disc 4 rather than a disc 3 they did say that given the information provided ( V5 & Cert of Conformity for my Euro 4 engine in a 2012 registered vehicle) I have the correct disc. A class 4 not the 3 I thought is was. I can only assume that in the absence of a class of vehicle for motorhomes it goes purely on weight and not engine emission's, which seems a little contrary to the purpose of this, and as we are over 3.5t (4.005t) we are classed along with everything else over that weight. So a 32t lorry is the same as mine with the same engine emission class.

Still not convinced this is absolutely their intention but it appears this is the case. It would have been really nice for the reply to explain this, particularly as I asked, in French, to do this if my class was correct at a 4.

Hope this will make it clear for others with a similar weight vehicle. I can fix it to my screen now.

Regards, Roy

We applied for ours a couple of days ago.  Our MH is also >3.5t at 3.88t, 2016 model.  As you say, there is no provision on the application for a Motorhome so we entered ours as Light Commercial Vehicle >3.5t, attached V5C, but didn't attach the CoC.  Our Euro category is Euro 5, so we just entered that in the relevant box.

Received an email just now with a yellow Class 2 sticker.

I wonder whether, if you had gone for the Light Commercial vehicle rather than the Coach etc category, you would have got the Class 3 sticker you were expecting.  Only wondering, I have no idea of course.

The whole thing is not quite 100% clear on the website (yet).

We used to visit France fairly regularly some years ago. The last time we were in France was 3 years ago. I'm afraid this sticker scheme for us, just adds to the list of reasons of why not to bother anymore.

We are, however, visiting the Irish Republic later this year and I was considering the Netherlands for 2018. Is anyone aware of any similar schemes in these two countries ?

Holland currently has only 2 cities which affect passenger cars, Utrecht and Rotterdam.  There are others but only for lorries.  Website link: https://www.milieuzones.nl/english

From what I read it only affects diesel passenger cars registered before 1.1.2001 in these cities.

But who knows what the situation will be in 2018 wink

Has anyone successfully applied for the French emissions sticker if so, your advice please? First of all a PDF attachment of the Registration Certificate V5C is required in less than 400kb. The best I can do is a single page scan in black and white at 1413kb. The whole four pages in colour is 8000kb. Secondly when filling in the vehicle details (the first thing to do) I am  rejected because of incorrect information. Not sure what is required especially after copying from the V5.

Personally had no issues at all either with scanning and resizing to meet the required size or completing the order page. Obviously I don't know what system you are using to scan and resize. Firstly you only need the main page of the V5 not the whole document. Most scanners offer the ability to change the resolution which will reduce the overall size on disk. If you are using a Windows system I would create your scan and then use the "save as" function to save it as a jpeg file, I usually do this to the desktop. In order to reduce the footprint size further you will need some photo editing software. Open the jpeg file and resize to 1000 pixel width and save. This should now be small enough to be under the 400kb required by the French website.

David,

Have taken your advice and managed to achieve 212kb and seem to have completed the request satisfactorily as they have taken my cash and acknowledged. Many thanks.
