Hi I've just looked at the map of the area affected in Lyon and it seems that indigo Lyon site shouldn't need a sticker, anyone know if this is the case please.

Is it a legal requirement for the sticker to be on the kerbside of the car when in France, ie the driver's side of a UK car? It would cause less visual obstruction if it was on the UK kerbside especially as the sticker then remains with the car for the life of the vehicle and would be obstructing the view for many years.

It is unlikely that I will be going anywhere near any of the affected cities but got a sticker just in case.

I've been in touch with the CC who, in turn, have spoken to the French authorities about the positioning of the certificate sticker on UK vehicles. They have been advised that UK vehicles are permitted to put the sticker on the UK nearside of the windscreen so that it doesn't obstruct the driver's view which could possibly, with some vehicles, cause an MOT failure.

At present I think the only places that you need to have a sticker for are Paris, Grenoble and Lyon. Other cities may follow in due course so for the small cost it might be worth getting one, just in case. It would seem that it is taking far longer for the sticker to come through than when I got mine so I wouldn't delay too long. You should get an email confirming that you have applied for the sticker  once you have sent your completed application. This email can be used as proof if the actual sticker doesn't arrive in time. It has on it a a printed image of the applicable sticker for your vehicle.

Appreciate the stickers are for only 3 cities at present, however more are considering them. As the sticker is for that particular vehicle, for its life/ownership, do as I have done and get one now. Easy to do but copy V5 in grayscale as it is accepted. Only cost £4. may go up in price in near future?

Do you fix the sticker in the top or bottom corner on the UK nearside?

The German one tells you to put it in bottom of UK Offside (drivers) side so I will to the same with the French one when it arrives.  Guess so it is visible from the kerb and easy to check.
