The Club have released more details of the new Booking System here

There are still finer details still to be arrived but the link (thanks Harry) sets out how the new system will work.

I have closed the previous thread on when we will get details of the new booking system and opened this one to allow comments specifically on the new system rather than discussing what they might be.

I've had a look and it's very bland and not much detail like what the deposit will be or the cancellation period although JVB mentioned 21 days?

If you read the FAQ fully you will see the deposit is to be 20 percent with a min of £25. Hopefully the latter will be tied to inflation. If site fee are less than £25, payment is due in full.

I would expect the 20% would be for a one night stop and where the one night is less than the £25 pound standard booking fee per site booked?

But they are available out of season when most older people travel.

We use the grass 30% discount a lot, gets you a pitch for less than a tenner a lot of the time...

I think off peak is when mid week discount is also normally available for all

We have no problem with paying a deposit, we had to do that when we joined the Club 39 years ago. The issue we have is if this new system is going live for the 2022 season where does it leave us with existing bookings for 2022? We always pitch on a hardstanding for various reasons but could now find that all the hardstandings are booked under the new system. Will we be given the choice on our current bookings to book a hardstanding or will we have to accept grass as they are all booked, remembering we have been encouraged to book 12 months ahead.

Not sure it’s mentioned anywhere , but what if you need to shorten your stay either at short notice or within the cancellation period. Would you still be penalised ?, or would the whole deposit be allocated to the shortened stay?

We need to wait for the fine detail, GG, and patience is needed.

Talking of spin, as Harry did, the whole package is full of it and has been spun towards doing what the members want. Really? I’ve not seen many on here saying it’s what they want other than those whom the current system does not suit. Has the club bowed to the wishes of those folks and ignored the rest of us?

I don’t have a problem with the proposals but a more upfront approach in explaining the business sense of bringing the booking system in line with the rest of the industry would have been more credible rather than telling us it’s what we wanted.
