Had a very relaxing day up to now.

This morning we drove the short distance to Much Wenlock and visited the Priory. I had a good wander around whilst Mrs WN decided to do a drawing . Lovely sunshine this morning. We came back to the caravan for lunch and then visited Benthall NT which is walkable from the C.L. The Comma butterfly was taken in their vegetable garden and the little hut was there as well. The sun has now disappeared but still dry.

Not sure what we'll do for diesel. I still have over half a tank left after yesterday's drive and I'll have enough to get me home to North Wales. If I see anywhere tomorrow in Ironbridge I'll top it up. As DK said it should all settle down soon. Bit worrying for those far away from home.

Much Wenlock is very interesting, I like the topiary. There was a huge Walnut tree in the garden last time we were there. Needless to say, we came home nut laden😁

Gardening day for me, I am tackling a big mixed hedge. OH is out on his bike somewhere hilly, possibly half way to Manchester, but I have him tracked😂 Then cooking Sunday dinner for us all later. Pooch is asleep. Until his tum nudges him at 5pm🤣

It's been a day of two halves,  weather wise for us today. This morning we set off from the village to walk over Rhossili Down in cloudy but warm and dry conditions. I popped into the church where there is a memorial to Edgar Evans, a member of Captain Scott's ill fated trip to the South Pole who was born just up the road (we actually walked past a rather swish looking cottage bearing a plaque claiming his birthplace,  but I'm guessing a considerable amount has been spent doing it up into a good looking holiday home.

We made it to the trig point at the top of the downs where there are spectacular views along the whole of the bay and you can see why you have to walk across to Worms Head at specified times, it gets completely cut off at high tide. Minutes after I took those pictures the mist and drizzle rolled in and the views were lost. frown

But after lunch the sun made an appearance (hooray! smile) so we took the dogs down to the beach for a romp and a close up view of the wreck of the Helvetia, a prominent feature on the beach here.

Forecast for the next couple of days is not so good, could be searching for a dog friendly pub to spend a couple of hours tomorrow! wink

Wherenext - if you should spot this - you're probably familiar with this area but I remember in the past you've asked for self catering suggestions. This farmhouse would be ideal for you as it's got a down stairs bedroom with en suite wet room which I think you look for for MiL? (Apologies if not). 3 more bedrooms upstairs with fabulous views and a nice south facing garden too. Happy to provide details, if you're interested, just drop me an email. smile

RE - The diesel situation I put £40 in the Volvo on Thursday afternoon but after seeing the news on Friday morning I went and just filled it up just in case (I know against the advice) but needs must after our weekend away it’s still showing between a full and half tank so should be enough to see us through the next couple of weeks as we don’t really tend to use the Volvo unless we are towing hopefully the situation sorts itself out soon stations here have been very busy over the last few days

I filled up when we were at Bideford just before the disclosure of the lack of drivers, and apart from the tow down to Chapel Amble our trips have so far been only a few miles each day. Hopefully the panic will have died down in a few day's time and we can top up before our next tow.

Another fine day out without travelling too far. Went to Pencarrow House and had a good walk before lunch around all the grounds and then into the house for an hour's escorted tour through the property. We were the only ones on that tour so got full attention from the guide. One bit of excitement was trying to guide a Robin out of the last room of the Tour, with success in the end. Although the main car park was nearly full there didn't seem to be many people about, except at the cafe.

Sat out for an hour in the sunshine when we got back to the van, but rain started early evening so could be a wet final walk tonight.

Those away have obviously had a good day today, and good to read that you got home ok, Francis.

Thanks for the concern expressed over Flyte, his eyes look a bit better the last couple of days, although his left eye is still milky.

I think the fuel situation is going to be quite a problem re tanker drivers and refilling, too many fuel stations  have now been emptied out. frown

Day off today but have to sort gazebo blown down in the night, 41 mph winds which we hoped wouldn't reach us. Then a trip to a printer's in Wells, wondering if the traffic will be quieter?!

Definitely ' Back End ' Weather today Brue !! Woke to the rattling of the vertical blinds as I leave a slight gap in the windows for air flow. Went to close them to see it absolutely lashing down so won't need to pressure wash the yard, nor indeed top up the bird baths smile.

Decided to spend a bit of time on-line shopping starting with Christmas cards from BT Benevolent Fund so put the CD player on.  surprised I knew there was a CD in there but the CD case was Johnny Cash's " Out among The Stars " Got the shock of a Monday morning when it burst into life with Katherine Jenkins O.B.E. singing { Most Beautifully I have to admit } "Silent Night".

I think it's been a while since I checked through my CDs   defo a job for this evening embarassed

What a weird day we've had weather wise today. Woke up to torrential rain first thing, but between the downpours managed to get Ralph out for a quick walk to make himself comfortable (euphemism intended!) whilst the ladies (human and canine) had a little lie in.

Then middle of the morning it looked to be brightening up so we set out to do the walk we had planned from Burry Green over to Cheriton and Ryer's Down. Blue skies and warm sunshine nearly all the way until the skies clouded up and, fortunately, just after we'd made it to the pub at Llanmadoc, it started pouring down again. A good excuse to loiter in the pub anyway!

By the time we left it was all clear and sunny again. Now back in the cottage and it looks as if the wet stuff has set in for the duration.

More rain forecast for tomorrow but Wednesday looks much more hopeful.
