Feeling a lot relieved after a very frustrating weekend.  Got 4 letters on Saturday morning about my forthcoming surgery on an aneurysm in my knee.  Only saw the surgeon last week but he told me the following day that I was booked in for mid January.

The letters on Saturday said the date had been changed but that I had to attend for a pre-Op assessment (four days after the Op!), a vein scan (two weeks after the Op!) and a pre-hospital Covid test (a month after the Op!!!). Clearly someone had got a few wires crossed but there was nothing I could do about it being a Saturday.  Plus the change of date would mean our Christmas trip to Sandringham, which has been booked for almost a year, would have to be cancelled. What made it worse was that someone had gone to the trouble of marking all the relevant dates with a green highlighter pen without realising they were absolute nonsense.

Managed to get hold of his Secretary this morning who was so kind and understanding and had it all sorted within 20 minutes - reverting back to the January date which put all the appointments back in the correct order!

I have found clinicians within the NHS to be absolutely outstanding but this isn't the first time that I have experienced a complete dog's breakfast on the admin side.

Hope you feel better soon Debsc, we've had prolonged infections like yours in the past, in fact I remember when many in our village were laid low for weeks. I suppose variations of these viruses move amongst us all the time. frown

Had some good news about my passport, my application along with phone photo has been accepted. We were discussing this on here not long ago as my photo had been deemed "poor" but I objected. I might not look like Audrey Hepburn but the photo did look like me!  Glad I ignored the automated response. OH says " just wait till you see it.....laughing"

Re the passport. We had the same with Margaret's as her photo was rated as poor on the  application and we have had confirmation today that the passport has been accepted and is in progress. Like you I added a note as to why I thought the photo was acceptable. My photo was rated as fair but as yet I have not had any indication of whether it has been accepted although I do have confirmation they have the application.

AD I worked in Admin for the NHS for many years and yes we worked incredibly hard and did our very best but we were often let down by the IT system. The phrase 'you get what you pay for' often sprang to mind and I suspect that it still the case.

As some of you might be aware son is in HDU at present (3weeks and counting) op was a success but can't get him off the intubation! I was due to get a booster jab on the outskirts of town at rush hour, a nurse specialist organised a jab at the hospital easy!  My OH had an ultra sound scan later in the week, we managed to get it done today thank you NHS.

Best of wishes to you, robsail, for a steady recovery for your son, and pleased to go read that the NHS was able to give you your booster and your OH's scan done earlier than originally projected.

One quite damp walk, first thing, but thankfully me managed our others without getting wet, although we did have a heavy hail shower around lunch time. Still I was able to clear out the gutters at the back of the house before and after lunch. This boy certainly knows how to live!smile

We got our Christmas decs out of the loft at the weekend and decided it was time to downsize them. We had 3 artificial trees up there so we took the decision that we didn't want the really large one anymore so took it to our local Sue Ryder shop today along with some other not needed decs. We always used to have a 6ft real tree but not for the last few years. We now just have 2 smaller artificial ones - one in the front room window and one in the dining room. We then went to the post office to post our parcel to N. Ireland and get the stamps for our cards. So 2 good jobs got out of the way. It teamed with  rain all morning but was a relatively dry afternoon. The weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look too good.
