April  starts  the  season  of  'Osprey  hunting'    for  me .

So  off  to  RSPB  Loch  Garten,  on-line  of  course,  and  the  sites  up, just  about,  but  no  Ospreys  as  yet.

So  over  to  Scottish  Wildlife Trusts  "Loch  of  The  Lowes"  Website  and,  and    Surprised  not  one  but  two  Ospreys  &  mating  in  full  view  of  the  cameras  !  Its  not  the  aged  "Lady"  but  a  new  female  now  in  residence,  so  we'll  have  to  see  if  the  old  girl  turns  up  at  all.  Well  she  is  believed  to  be  in  the  high  twenties  now,  darn  near  Geriatric  as  far  as  Ospreys  go !  I  understand  Rutland  has  a  number  of  arrivals   so  I  must  keep  watching  Loch  Garten  for  more  tales  of  Bad Bird  Behaviour  !!

Rocky- have you watched these birds fishing. I have for over a decade here on a stocked trout water and  they are not as good as you suggest. But hey if knowledge comes from doctored TV shows then OK, not quite like actual seeing. Ask Iolo what his opinion is. The Brenig nest was in shallow water just off the reservoir side, again a stocked reservoir with a good head of fish.

I personally don’t suggest anything, I was quoting the experts. Ospreys are deserving of a place in the natural world away from nasty self serving people is my suggestion. I’m with the caring Welsh folk that the perpetrators will be caught & punished. Your opinion is yours mine is mine we are in opposing corners I don’t expect your opinion being from a conservators position as you take life my position is from the love of the wildlife with no lives taken. We will never agree so I will leave you to your position on this point👍🏻

What a wild statement. In my own little way I have probably done more for the environment than most.

The ignorance shown here is stunning. One example-see the Posts on
"Acorns" I planted seeds in a nursery bed last Autumn. Seedlings now grown ready for planting this Autumn. They will be used to replace the  Ash that are being felled because of Ash Die Back. How did that occur. Some misguided "environists" thought they could import plants to reforest somewhere. Unfortunately (diseased) to meet their "Grant" time table. Result wholesale destruction of our native trees. My little tree planting will cost no one anything. Practical thought out  environmental project. Plenty of other examples.

Why oh why must posts on here degenerate into a series of petty snipping arguments between a few protagonists? The fact remains that an illegal attack on a protected species has occured. I am sure all authorities concerned will be investigating seriously with a view to early prosecution.

Couldn't agree more Scoutman.

I Deleted User a similar post as yours myself in order to give myself time to calm down.

Leave this thread to the Osprey watchers and start a different thread if those that want arguments want to continue.

I fully agree with those sentiments but some of the unsubstantiated dribble gets your back up and you feel you have to respond. Will now go for a lie down.  Like everyone else I hope the idiots who cut down the nest are caught and dealt with severely. End of

Updates are available on both the North Wales Wildlife Trust web site and the BBC Wales news. I won't repeat them, just to say that there are a couple of new nest sites that they hope the pair will choose and lay their eggs.
