Hi everyone,

Following the very popular Coronavirus Concerns discussion, I have created this discussion to continue conversation around the Coronavirus where you can discuss with each other and share updates and concerns.

However, we do request that conversations and comments about politics are not posted as this inadvertently leads to disagreements and arguments as we have seen in previous discussions where we have needed to moderate posts. Please can you keep your conversation free from politics friendly and in the spirit of the community. A reminder of the Guidelines below:

Hi all

just to start off. If the councils are not opening their public toilets because they are worried about the safety of the cleaning staff, why is it ok for the clubs toilet & shower facilities to be open?

Are they not like public toilets?

Are not the staff at the same risk as the other cleaners?

Cheers allπŸ‘

I feel sorry for the wardens, for the extra work cleaning the facilities they will have to do.  In the Q&A on the subject, the Club suggest that if you are able to use your own facilities, it might be advisable to do so, thus avoiding queuing etc.  As most do have their own facilities this would be helpful I think.

Those of us who have continued to work throughout have been able to use the toilets at work ..... and they have been cleaned as usual throughout.

I thought some decided not to open toilets to try and deter visitors, rather than the problem of managing them. Not council but Forestry Commission, where we visited yesterday. Toilets were open but only the disabled ones, for general use. Public toilets don't of course normally have showers. It is those I would see as the main risk. It's difficult to avoid breathing in steamy air, whilst you can easily wash your hands after touching surfaces.

The Club hasn't said one way or the other what it is doing so why speculate?

Why not, we have been given very few facts. That normally tends to lead to speculation. News reporters are Ace at it.πŸ˜‚

In all honesty we are responsible for our own safety, if we choose to use a 3rd party convenience it is down to us. MM has worked & has used 3rd party toilets. I’ve used store toilets. If sites open it’s up to each individual to call itπŸ‘πŸ».

The Club have no doubt done thorough risk assessments and put appropriate safety measurements in place to reduce risk as far as possible on all sites they intend to re-open. Of course, it is impossible to fully eliminate risk and it will obviously remain an individual choice as to whether you book a site under the conditions the Club impose.

I've got 3 bookings over the next few months, 2 of which are on sites with no washing/toilet facilities. I'll be using my own facilities regardless on the full facilities site.

I'm expecting a few changes on sites; contactless arrival, 2 metre tape on paths, queuing for service points etc. but on the whole the Club sites are naturally well set up for social distancing and so long as members act in a sensible and safe manner then reopening should not be a major problem and we can all get back to enjoying our hobby.

In our area it wasnt the safety of staff that was the big issue, although i am sure it was a consideration, it was trying to balance the work force and direct them into areas they deemed to be the most in need of services such as waste collection door to door and normal street bins and our council did a sterling job.

Some public toilets are now open as are some car parks, but the height barriers have remained in place on most and the slip ways are closed.

If a stricter cleaning regime has to be introduced on sites and the staff are to wear more efficient ppe, how are sites with only 2 wardens going to cope with the extra work load, and the coronavirus is not going to go away any time soon so it would have to be a cleaning regime designed for the long haul.

en-suite pitches are already available in the UK and more so in Franceundecided

Well, its been so overdone on here it has got tedious and by the way I am not so sure Wardens have to clean the facilities under the threat of the virus. Did not the government say employees had a right to refuse to do tasks if they thought the risks were too high?

In any case  the first move is for sites to open and even that has not been confirmed only planned.
