We once got trapped inside a Club Site! We had vacated our pitch early enough, but decided to empty waste water tank and top up, and buy a new gas bottle, which took around 20 minutes. In that time, a queue to get into Old Hartley had formed, some 10 outfits long. Anyone who knows the site will know that the entrance road is only two vehicle widths, but it has a pinch point at the gate, so it’s one in, one out. Despite all the numpties seeing we were trying to get out, all they did was frantically shuffle forwards in the desperation to get on site, no one would let us have a few seconds to get out, as the outfit in front moved on. They just stayed glued to each other’s tail. I finally had to stand in between two outfits to stop the next one moving up so we could get out. I actually got some verbal abuse for it as well rather unbelievably. We were by no means only ones trying to get out either. 🤷‍♂️😲

We saw the same at Sandringham ccc site there was the pre 1300 arr queue blocking the access road ,and out on to the access lane ,a lady in a motor caravan had been nearly half an hour trying to exit ,she only got out when i stopped, the arrivals  ,who would have barged past me but not Rosawink to  give her room to get out, ,

You are doing it back to front Steve.......you stop off at the sightseeing place in the comfort and convenience of your MH, then arrive on site in the evening, having had a full day out, that involved no waiting for buses, no walking you haven’t chosen to do......

Its how we tour, we always arrive much later in day. In fact in Summer, the 8pm cut off point is a nuisance at Club Sites. We make the most of daylight hours, not sat on a site.

Up and out early, do what we want in the day, move onto next site and pitch up for next night. And repeat. Some CLs are happy for you to arrive up to 10pm if you ask nicely first. It’s why we baulk at paying over £20 just for somewhere to rest our wheels for 10 hours.

We do stay more nights in one place of course, then we might walk or cycle from sites, but we do use MH to get about still as well.

Everybody to there own method TDA. Although we do stop on route occasionally, for an NT property for instance, we prefer to get where we are going and then explore from there, normally without using the MH. If   We arrive about 12:30 the queue has normally gone and only one / two at most in front. Shopping on route and linear touring, keeps our engine use to the minimum. Although we do it that way because we enjoy it, as I guess you do.

I remember one student once asking me if I believed in the environment, I said yes it certainly exists.

yes, love that, also:

can I lend a pen?

no you borrow, I lend

OK (sigh) can I borrow a pen

Have we missed a word out?

OK (double sigh) can I borrow a pen please?

well, let's discuss you hiring a pen? 50p per hour and £1 non refundable deposit

but the lesson's only 50 minutes...

do you take business studies?

no

I thought not, in which case what about 10p for 10 minutes?

Needless to say they got one free in the end but always a green ink one, then come parents evening when parent disputes the preposterous idea that their darling child never has a pen you simply show their book with all that green ink. Loved that moment too.

well that's a good outcome for me (and any teacher) too. Saves them asking me.

reminds me of a quote from training:

the more you make a fuss, the less you will have to make a fuss about

Turned out to be true!

Actually also reminds me, one of my kids had a tee shirt when young, if mummy says no I ask granny
