What surprises me is the amount of caravaners who keep the engine running whilst significant other is in the reception booking in, do motorhomers do the same?

Posted on 13/02/2020 13:58

it's because the auto stop has been disabled by towing smile

Yes, they do.

As for us, we both go into reception, glad to stretch the legs. Obviously with car engine off and locked, there are some shifty people around wink

Unless  solar panels powered, do not have lights on the exterior of caravans, MHs or awnings; some look like Blackpool illuminations! Why have them anyway?

Don't overfill kettles just heat sufficient water for the cuppa.

Use microwave instead of oven.

Club facilities should recycle as much water as possible (eg tap/shower water) for use in the wcs.  When upgrading facilities the club should consider installing heating systems which use the natural heat in the earth  (can't remember the correct name!)

Encourage people to sit outside in the evenings talking to neighbours instead of locking themselves in their boxes watching TV.  Meeting so many diverse folk used to be one of the great pleasures of our hobby.

Let us not suggest too many draconian measures, eg banning BBQs, or we risk changing the pleasures associated with our outdoor hobby too much.

Do we really need the grass over the whole site to be cut so regularly.  And why not some nature areas on the sites to encourage wild life.

And yes, turn off site lighting late in the evening.

Ours does too, but it only chooses to switch off occasionally, a d never when the caravan is hooked up.

I meant when pushing the van on/off when hooking/unhooking and using a mover etc.  Obviously once you have backed it in you can turn the engine off, unhook then restart and move off, many do not.undecided

Have you ever noted the palaver when the trailed car is hooked on how many do not shut off the motor caravan engine (every little helpswink)
