Website downtime

No advance notice and no note of explanation or apology have been given for taking the site down for around 24 hours. I'm saddened at the ignorance displayed. Not shocked because, sadly, it’s what I’ve come to expect from CAMC these days. The lack of courtesy is nothing less than appalling and is symptomatic of CAMC's attitude towards its customers/members.

I had posted a new thread but the moderator kindly asked me to post here.  I see a few other locked threads in a similar vain.  My original post ….

How is everyone getting on with the newly launched Bookings page?  For myself, we’ve been trying for 3 days to look for and book a couple of stopovers going to Aberdeen next month.  Should have been a 15 minute exercise. Saved one site in the basket, can’t get back to it.  Now, searching for sites in Scotland, it lists every ‘Scotland’ on the planet, but not the Scotland we all love! And, at each turn, I am booted out to rejoin a queue.

Can the old site be restored - as the new one needs some serious work ?

So, what are your experiences?

For me, a site booking saved in my basket has now disappeared, and 5ge site is full on the dates required (Oct 2922). This is so frustrating!  One of the core reasons I joined and use CAMC was the ease of booking. I think we will need to reconsider

There are lots more views in the linked thread -

https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/club-together/discussions/sites-touring/uk-sites-touring/what-have-they-done/

which is more about booking experiences than this one which was primarily intended to be about the club's failings in communicating with its members but the two threads have rather overlapped so it’s of no consequence now.👍🏻

Incidentally, you can choose your own username by visiting My Profile - if it’s working.😆

My Profile is not working, just like the rest of the site.

Apart from the consistent inadequacies of the Clubs IT (running as it has for years the slowest site I have ever used), what really confounds me is why so many members seem to be hell bent on wanting to book the most expensive sites in Europe? Up to £50 a night .  Come on. Oh sorry, I know - the facilities are wonderful!! The clubs pricing antics now mean that they take the lead on pitch costs, over very many commercial sites.  Hey this is meant to be a club for its members, not in it for commercial gain.  The trouble now is I see a price increase trend emerging among CLs (my touring of choice in the UK and the only reason for being in the CC in the first place). IIs this being driven, I wonder, by those officers in the club dealing with CLs? How, with ACSI, was I able to again tour France for four weeks this year, staying on many delightful commercial sites, and pay only between 14 and 22 euros a night!!!

Has anybody seen a response from the club regarding these issues?

There's a new thread started by Rowena this morning and she posted here a while back but neither message addresses the points I made in my OP regarding poor communications and lack of courtesy to members.
