A superb site

This is a fantastic site. Paul Clarke is very welcoming and explained everything to us on our arrival. The pitches are very large and well spaced out. They are all fully serviced which is a bonus. The shower room hidden a shed has to be seen to be believed and the information room has loads of stuff in it including books, DVDs and apples from the garden. There is a small dog walk on the site for early morning and last thing at night walks. We will be back next year for 7 nights to enable us to explore the area, there is lots of places to explore.

Satisfaction guaranteed. A dream location.

We wanted a few days away, peace and quiet was all we wanted, and armed with a few books we were ready to chill, and got it by the bucket load. Yes, there is plenty for the tourist to do within a short drive but on this occasion, not us. From a lovely welcome and being shown to our pitch by Paul, the owner, everything was a big tick. Very large hard standing pitch ( but pegs went in no trouble ), enormous grass areas between pitches, the quaintest, cleanest toilet / shower room, an information, book and dvd swap summerhouse, and views across the fields towards Snowdonia meant we were in for a treat. I even learnt to play croquet on the lawn ! The site is so well maintained. Grass is well cared for, flower beds and pots everywhere. We came away fully satisfied and rested. We came for our first visit on a recommendation, and we will be back. It does what is says on the tin. A perfect CL.

Worthy of its Awards

We visited in our campervan in May and chose this site because of its peaceful location and access to many places of interest. We stayed 5 nights and were able to visit Llangollen, Whitchurch and Holywell but with more time would have visited Chester and Shrewsbury too. The site is immaculately maintained, with pretty scenery of the countryside, the shower and wc we always find useful and it was clean and looked after. The pitch you are allocated is on a board at the entrance and there is an information shed with tourist leaflets, eggs and books etc. We would definitely come back again and we still have so many places near the site to visit. Definitely worthy of its many Club Awards including CL Site of the Year fairly recently and Regional Site of the Year too several years running.

Lovely CL

What a lovely well kept CL, easy access off the main A road located on a country lane. Peaceful location with plenty of walks. Immaculate toilet/shower with under floor heating which was a godsend in frosty March this year. Information shed with plenty of leaflets for the surrounding area and tools and bits and bobs you may have forgot of need to borrow. Lovely views. Spacious pitches well spaced apart, each having a bird name and feeding stations, lovely touches with flowers around. Great owners who were very pleasant. Will return if visiting this area again, definitely worth a stay.

Gem of a site

Great welcome from Paul as we arrived. Both Paul and Helen very friendly whenever they were out and about on site. Absolutely lovely well maintained site with allocated pitches, great views, peace and tranquility in a lovely area. Pitches are spacious and well spaced out from each other with own water supply and EHU. The washroom very clean, spacious and inviting to use. The summerhouse is fabulous with lots of local information, DVDs, books and games to borrow should you wish. A real lovely touch with a stash of those all important bits and pieces that you may have forgotten to take with you. The site has a real nature loving feel to it, with the chickens and ducks wandering about in their bit, birds flying around between the bird boxes, hedges and trees, herons early morning and an evening fox - who was very familiar with the layout and seemed a regular visitor with no stress caused to the chickens or ducks. We walked to the nearest village of Malpas with a well earned drink and bite to eat at The Old Fire Station. The whole area is truly lovely. This is a real gem of a site, we will definitely return.

Peace & Quiet

You can tell that the site is loved from the second you arrive. There are flowers, perfectly mowed grass areas and the facilities are kept clean and tidy. Although I didn't use the washroom, I had a peek inside and it immaculately clean. There is a little summerhouse as you enter, full of useful information, eggs for sale and something I've not seen before, a 'borrow box' full of useful tings that you might need to borrow such as spare EHU cable, cable ties, hammer, torch etc. There is also a large board with the pitch's and visitors names on, so you know when you arrive where you are going. There is a small lane behind the campsite, but in the first 4 hours I was there, I heard one car and a tractor and vehicles using it drive slowly so no traffic noise to disturb you. The views out across the fields and the Welsh mountains in the distance are lovely and Paul was so welcoming and nice, you can tell he takes pride in the CL and the people he meets. The Shropshire Union canal winds itself all around the countryside here, so there is so much to see. I had the end pitch by the dog walking area which was perfect as I had my loyal companion with me (the dog not the husband)!. The site was fully booked every night that I was there from Sat 30 April to Sat 7 May which just goes to show how popular it is. I cannot recommend this site highly enough.

Lovely site - But ...

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Brunette Cottage. Lovely, well kept site and facilities very clean. Our one and only issue is this - Having booked 4 nights we had an unexpected free day and asked the owner if we could extend for a night. We were very surprised when he said yes but we would have to move to another pitch. All pitches are the same but it seems the owner plans to the Nth degree. We refused the offer to pack up and move down 2 pitches so came home instead. Of course it could be that someone had booked a specific spot but that wasn't explained. Anyway, just a warning for anyone who may want to extend a night or two, be prepared to move pitches. On a positive note, the little shower facility is lovely with Underfloor heating, so nice to get out of the shower to a warm floor. You certainly won't be disappointed with this site, unless you want to extend your stay!

Simply the best!

The highest standards are maintained at this Caravan club CL. Owners Paul and Helen are very friendly and most helpful. Pitches and grassed area's are immaculate. Shower and toilet likewise with heated floor and no additional charge for use of the shower. Piches are fully self contained with a water and power point on each. Information hut not only has visitor leaflets, but a toolbox full of useful tools, washers, WD40 etc in case you need them. Set just off a single track unclassified road, there is a small but infrequent amount of passing farm traffic in the daytime. Bliss at night time. Dog friendly. Lovely sunsets as you are pitched facing West. I doubt that there are more than a handful of CL's to this standard. Only caveat I would add is (this is obviously beyond the control of the CL) that the approach road has a small number of very bad potholes down near the main road, care is needed negotiating them. Paul and Helen obviously care about thier CL and your comfort, this is reflected in every aspect of the site. Fantastic CL, certainly the best we've ever stayed on.

First Class Standards

Just back from our umpteenth visit and all 100%. The pride Paul & Helen have in their site is totally evident and matched by their friendly welcome. My senior moment faux pas (left my hitch up cable behind🙄) rectified by the loan of Paul’s ⭐️ Thanks both.

Enjoyed walk into Malpas (ate at the Firestation) Pontcysylte - up through Trevor Woods. Circular route from Malpas via Overton Scar - Ellesmere Lake to Welshhampton. Grindley Brook canal, with meal at Horse & Jockey.
